We’re diving into the incredible, zero-waste world of Chayote. If you’ve only ever seen the mild, forgettable versions at the supermarket, you will be amazed by what happens when you grow it yourself. It gives us an abundance of two distinct harvests: tender, crisp "Dragon Whisker" shoots (龍鬚菜) in the spring, and sweet, juicy "Buddha's Hand" squashes (佛手瓜) in the fall.

That was our experience with the Madeira Vine. It’s beautiful, edible, and practically immortal—but it also grows its own clones! I finally figured out the "peace treaty" for this plant: a strict container routine and a lot of pruning.
