1. Avoid PGs under ₹10K (with food): They may exist, but the quality is too poor to survive in.


2. No security deposit = Red flag: PGs that don’t ask for a deposit are often scams.


3. Don’t trust verbal promises: If the owner says “security will be refunded anytime,” don’t believe it. Most PGs follow an 11-month lock-in.


4. Get everything in writing: Never rely on verbal commitments.


5. Check the surrounding area: Observe the locality and type of people living nearby.


6. Talk to current students: They’ll give the most honest feedback.


7. Girls PG – look for female warden: If that’s a priority, find pgs with female warden , PGs' with female warden are also available.


8. Judge the manager/owner’s behavior: Some can be creepy, especially in girls’ PGs.


9. Ask to taste the food: It’s your right — don’t feel shy.


10. Inspect the kitchen Also: Hygiene here is a major issue in most PGs.
