I love learning other ways guys run their business. 3-4 years ago I hired a company to remove utilities on a house we were taking down. I worked with this company for over 10 years and didn’t know what I didn’t know. They were on the job using a new holland backhoe when I realized something was missing. The trailer. I asked where they parked it and found out they don’t own one and never have. They road (drive) the backhoe to every jobsite and limit their work zone to just one city-St.Paul. And if a job is further away they charge a premium and still drive it there-sometimes up to 30 miles through the city. I never thought of just driving it down the road. That’s how we got all our farm equipment around but once I moved to the city I started trailering everything. I’m starting to go back to driving my equipment to jobs if they are within 4-5 miles. #lessonlearned#heavyequipment#backhoe#tractor#farmlife
Thoughts are things. Your mind holds the potential to make you more money, success and happiness than your back or your hands. Choose what you allow in your head. Even small, inconceivable messaging can direct your thoughts. Companies will pay $30 million dollars for 30 second ad during the Super Bowl. If they think 30 seconds of your time is that valuable then what are you doing for yourself? Your never stuck, your always capable of growing, changing, and becoming better. No matter where you are or what you’ve done so far you can completely remake yourself and become amazing. Colonel Sanders was in his 60’s when he started KFC out of a gas station, without internet or modern equipment. What are you capable of? My answer is anything you really concentrate on. #youareawesome#youcandoit#neverstop#neverquit#nevergiveup#believeyoucan#ibelieveinyou
Cutting some Crispy stripes. We’re using a prototype wright mower with dual tweels. It technically doesn’t have a stripping kit attached but those dual rear tweels leave a pretty neat pattern all by themselves. I thought those tweels would burn grass in turns but the opposite is true. They are amazing on slopes and “sliiiide” over the turns without tearing the grass. I have to give this mower back soon. I’m going to miss this one. This mower is just so well built and this prototype design is a complete homerun. I hope Ed makes a production model of this because I’d buy one. I really don’t know how to improve on this thing. I’d give this mower a 9.5 out of 10. This is One of the best units we’ve ever tested. @wrightmowers @eddowright #stripes#lawncare#lawns#propertymaintenance#stripenation#dirtmonkey#contractor#construction#lawnmower#mower#lawns#artwork#artinthepark#oddlysatisfying#beatiful#equipment#mowing
Years ago I was sitting in a General contractors office waiting for a meeting. I looked up and on the wall was this sign. His office wasn’t filled with a Lotta highfalutin fancy things. It was a desk, a chair and on a piece of white paper was this sign. This general contractor had multiple projects going simultaneously with each well worth over $100 million dollars. He was running late for our meeting so I had plenty of time to try and figure out what this sign meant. I’d never seen anything like it before. I finally had this ah ha moment. He tackles each project by breaking it down into bite sized chunks. Pieces he can manage so he doesn’t feel overwhelmed. For me this was a pivotal point in my life. One of those times you remember every detail and has changed the way I think. There are people handling hundreds of millions of dollars of complicated projects at this moment. If they can do that then You and I can handle anything we face. Just take it one step at a time or eat that elephant one bite at a time. Give me a yes if you get this. #bitesize#nostress#project#simple#motivation#qoute#landscaper#landscaping#contractor#builder#buildersofinsta#construction
I feel this modern world could use some Old school mentality. It used to be that a Man or woman’s word was all that was needed. That took a strength that doesn’t seem to be a priority any longer. Now we live in a world of who can screw who. We are forced to have everything down in writing. And that’s fine. We get it. But that doesn’t mean we have to give up being a person of our word. You and I can still live a life above todays standard. In a world where people no longer hold true to their word when one person decides to be that person they separate themselves from the crowd. I see morales and values disappearing and lies and corruption growing. Being a man or woman of your word is not being dumb or naive. It takes a strength that’s lost in today’s world. #standoutfromthecrowd#mindset#beabeacon#bluecollar#contractor#landscaper#landscaping#smallbusinessowner
One of the “secrets” that I’ve found to success is just not quitting. And that sounds almost too simple. But the truth is managing and running a small business is a lot more difficult than what most people realize in the beginning. And once they start to see how tough it can be -they just quit. And the truth is running a business is not for everyone. Just because someone else is pulling it off doesn’t mean anybody can do it. A lot of people try to compare themselves to others that they have very little in common with. The sacrifices, the daily struggles, the uncertainty when you’re running a company is a challenge. BUT for some people it’s exactly what they need. For those people that are willing to go the extra distance running a small business can be the key to their future. And the first rule is the simplest -DON’T QUIT, DON’T GIVE UP, KEEP GOING NO MATTER WHAT! #neverstop#smallbusinessowner#grind#hustle#neverbackdown#contractor#landscaping#lawncare#fightclub#countryboy#construction
I see people holding THEMSELVES back. They worry what others will think. Thats self sabotage. If that person isn’t writing you a paycheck then who cares. When they make you question yourself -they are telling you their story. They are showing you what’s not possible for them. I challenge you to prove them wrong. You will have rough patches. We all do. How you handle those rough patches is important. Sometimes keeping up a good attitude during tough times is more important than getting rid of the tough times. Those challenges will make you stronger down the road. So brush it off and be grateful you have them. #toughtimestougherpeople#thankyou#attitudeofgratitude#smallbusinessowner#mindset#successminded#landscaping#lawncare#contractor

Thoughts are things. Be careful what Head trash you allow to have a voice. You CHOOSE what you think. But ALL of us have nagging doubting voices “Pop” into our heads. Don’t give that voice energy. When that Pops into your head say No and shut it down. #focusonthegood #positivethoughts #discipline #mindframe #smallbusinessowner #landscaper #contractor #success #motivation #noselfdoubt

Not a long story today. This was an Ah-ha moment for me. It took me a long time to let this one settle in. When your both on the same side it changes how you act. Instead of skipping this one over, try letting it sink in. Apply it toward something in your life, does it change anything? Give me a yes if you get it. #strengthinunity #perspective #marriagegoals #changedmylife #mindblown #nofighting #growth #knowthedifference #landscaper #smallbusinesslife #contractor #builder
