One of the hardest lessons I had to learn after surviving abuse was this:

You don’t have to apologize for protecting your peace.

As a mother navigating both criminal and family court, I realized that healthy boundaries weren’t walls, they were safeguards. They protected my healing, my children, my purpose, and the future God was calling me toward.

There will always be people who misunderstand your boundaries because they benefited from you not having them.

But remember this:

You are not responsible for making everyone comfortable.

You are responsible for protecting the life you’re rebuilding.

Choosing peace isn’t selfish.

Choosing healing isn’t weakness.

Choosing yourself isn’t giving up.

It’s wisdom.

There were days I questioned whether I had the strength to keep going.

As a mother navigating both criminal and family court, I couldn’t always see what God was doing. I saw delays. I saw challenges. I saw obstacles.

But God saw purpose.

Looking back now, I realize He wasn’t just bringing me through the legal system, he was preparing me for the assignment that would come after it.

Every setback strengthened my faith.

Every court hearing refined my character.

Every victory reminded me that God had never left my side.

If you’re in the middle of your own battle, don’t mistake the process for punishment. Sometimes God uses the hardest seasons to prepare us for the greatest purpose.
