I am the great custodian of 80's Commercial Advertising! In this vast library I will provide many hours of entertainment with many volumes of commercials. I shall also provide riches from the transitional periods of the 70's and 90's and select entertainment and news offerings from this awesome and sublime time period. Witness! the glory days of commercials!

A few years ago a guy named Chad kindly donated to me 20 VHS tapes of the original Star Trek TV series recorded from Atlanta's WXIA in the year 1980. Each tape contains four episodes with commercials and roughly four hours of content. Despite the extreme age of these recordings, the quality of these tapes is (for the most part) immaculate and it doesn’t seem like they were watched much by the person who recorded them.
After a great deal of transferring, issues with my VHS to DVD recorder, editing, general procrastination and a lot of research assembling them into some sort of coherent chronological order I'm now ready to begin posting these videos this coming Saturday. I have compiled a whopping 47 new commercial volumes from these tapes. It's probably the largest amount of material I've attained from a single source and I honestly feel privileged to share them with this community and the world at large because I'm sure that many of the ads on these videos are considered "lost media" and haven't been seen by anyone in over 40 years. I don't want to spoil too much but there is some amazing stuff to be seen in these videos...the classic big budget commercials for major brands, colorful low-budget local ads, trailers for classic movies and a lot of news updates that paint a broad picture of U.S. and world affairs as well as local/state issues in Atlanta.
One thing I want to warn my viewers about is that these videos will seem very repetitive. Because these recordings were of the same TV show from the same station on the same time slot often on consecutive days of recording many of the same ads will be featured from video to video, and there's no way to avoid some repetition without completely butchering the recordings. I will be editing out duplicate ads from each individual video per usual, but will also attempt to retain the spirit of the original recordings...so if seeing the same ad for Freshen Up Gum for ten straight videos in a row irritates you, please feel free to skip past it and realize that my priority here first and foremost is media preservation.
I do not plan to post these for 10 or 11 months straight, and will continue to upload volumes of other stuff every few weeks to help break things up. I don't expect to be through with posting these until probably well into next year.
Included as a bonus with this post is the piece of stationary identifying all of the episodes recorded on these tapes.

Just to let everybody here know, I'm personally not affiliated with 80scommercialvault.com. I have never registered a website with that domain and it does not reflect my views.
About a year ago I blocked a guy for making a divisive and hateful political statement (I try to keep any all current political discourse off of my channel) and have continued to silence him when he tries to comment on my videos. I guess this is his response. Oh well.

90's Commercials Vol. 491 was set as "made for kids" by YouTube and the comments are now disabled for it. I've already appealed and they still decided against me. There seems to be no way to appeal that decision. Apparently today's children are totally interested in commercials from 34 years ago.
One video out of 1,800 is not the end of the world, but this kind of thing might affect the kinds of things I can post here going forward.
I'm looking to get in touch with somebody directly at YouTube to explain my case and can hopefully get this resolved.

So the comments were apparently turned back on for Vol. 310: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hd0pO...I have no idea if this will last, but perhaps it was manually reviewed by a human (gasp) and determined to not be relevant to children in the year 2020.
I'm still very wary about posting the "k" word in video descriptions and will be more cautious towards posting this type of content in the future.

The comments section on the last volume was taken down by youtube, and I seemingly have no way of re-enabling them. It might happen to the next video as well. I might have to reconsider what sort of content I post in the future because of this COPPA nonsense, but if comments disappear from certain videos, please know that it isn't my decision.
