NFE 1.2.0 has been released. It is not yet a complete version at present. A new version will be available in 2 to 3 weeks to incorporate the remaining content.
It has been nine months since the release of NF1.1.8-H. I know that more and more people are asking when the next version will be released. I think it should be no problem to have it out before the end of February. This update is an unprecedented large-scale one. We have made numerous changes to the underlying system, which is also the reason why the release date of the next version has been postponed from November 2025 to now. Currently, I am still trying to introduce brand-new elements to the underlying system to complete the functions of a modern game engine and optimize it. The next major version has been confirmed as 1.2.0, and the version number of the next public release will be 1.2.0-dev. Just as the name suggests, it is not yet fully developed, but it can still replace version 1.1.8-H. More details will be described when it is made public.
Initially, NFE V1.2.0-dev (the next public version) was scheduled to be updated at the end of October. However, some tasks were not completed at that time, so the release was postponed. Up to now, I have been dedicated to researching the lag caused by garbage collection during runtime. Currently, although it can achieve a relatively good effect, it also has significant risks that could lead to application crashes. This is a major problem and I won't be able to solve it quickly. Currently, I need to devote more energy to learning for my final exam. Therefore, the update for the next version will not be in December or January. There is a high possibility that it will be released in February (I won't spend much time on programming from now until mid-January). Of course, I also hope that the next version can be released in a better state. It adds many substantive functions instead of just the "psych fork engine" that some people mentioned.
I know you are all waiting for the release of the new version of NFE, but currently we have unfinished functions. So the decision on how to release it depends on you.
The efforts we have made in these months are worth the wait.
