Airbag

Airbag is a progressive rock band from Oslo, Norway formed in the mid 2000s, featuring Asle Tostrup (vocals), Henrik Bergan Fossum (drums) and Bjorn Riis (guitars). Airbag has released 5 albums including A Day at the Beach (2020).

Airbag is hailed as one of the most important bands to emerge from the Norwegian progressive scene over the past decades.
The band was formed in Oslo, Norway in the mid 2000s. A string of self produced EPs was offered for free on their website receiving nearly a quarter of a million downloads within a few months. In 2008 the band signed with the now prestigious Norwegian prog label Karisma Records.

2012 saw Airbag touring and opening for Marillion. Over the years, the band has shared the stage with several prominent names in prog, including Yes, Saga, Anathema, Pineapple Thief and Riverside. Airbag frequent some of the biggest venues in Europe and are twice returning guests at the annual Cruise to the Edge in the US.

DISCONNECTED – 10th Anniversay!
Released on June 10, 2016, Disconnected marked Airbag's fourth studio album and the follow-up to The Greatest Show on Earth. Written and recorded over an 18-month period, the album saw the band venture into darker, heavier territory and explore a new side of its sound.

Disconnected was also the first Airbag album without founding member Jørgen Hagen, leading to both Asle and Bjørn taking on most of the keyboard duties throughout the recording process.

The album introduced several fan favourites and live staples, including "Killer", "Broken" and the title track "Disconnected". Two songs, "Slave" and "Sleepwalker", originated from pre-Identity material and were reworked with new arrangements and rewritten lyrics.

"I remember struggling with the writing. Airbag was in a difficult transition period and I felt that we were a bit lost. I was very happy with how the album turned out, but I also felt that it was a bit forced. Over the years, it has really grown on me. Although we probably could have done more with the material, I strongly feel that some of the songs are among our best. The album has become very dear to me." — Bjørn

Disconnected was mixed by Vegard Kleftås Sleipnes, mastered by Jacob Holm-Lupo, and produced by Airbag.

Our third album, The Greatest Show on Earth, celebrates its 12th anniversary today! Released on November 4 2013 the album feature several fan favourites and show staples, including Redemption and the title track.
