Many usually don’t like involving themselves in situations online, however some behaviors should never be ignored especially when they involve children. Recently, I’ve personally experienced someone acting under the pretext of being “13” while openly saying things such as “I’m into younger people,” “nobody gets to know,” and trying to create emotional attachment with a 10 year old child by saying things like “I felt a connection between us.” These actions were taken by a Palestinian Jordanian Muslim male by the name of “Tareq” living in the UAE,Dubai. These aren’t harmless jokes or normal behavior but on the other hand, serious red flags that people continuously ignore until someone gets hurt.

What makes this even more disturbing is pretending to follow a religion and morality while committing actions that are clearly sinful and harmful. In Islam, (known as one of the holiest religions) the protection of children, respecting boundaries, and avoiding inappropriate relationships is extremely important. Manipulating a child, encouraging secrecy, and speaking to them in this way is not something that should ever be normalized or defended. Religion should never be used as a mask while privately doing actions that go completely against its values.

At the end of the day, everyone answers for their own actions before God. No hidden message, deleted chat or secret conversation truly stays hidden forever. We continue seeing situations like this happen every day online, yet most people stay silent instead of protecting the victim. Although many people choose not to care, these actions leave real emotional damage on children, which is exactly why awareness needs to be spread.

Please do better. Protect children, speak up when something feels wrong, and stop normalizing harmful online behavior.
