Welcome to my channel šŸ¤

This is a space for real conversations, bold growth, and intentional living.

I share my journey through health and wellness, hair care, beauty, womanhood, faith, culture, and adulting—along with the things I’m learning, unlearning, and relearning along the way. From fitness and healthy living to personal growth, lifestyle skills, and honest life reflections.

You’ll find real stories, practical lessons, and behind-the-scenes growth—whether that’s improving my health, caring for my hair, learning new skills, or navigating life as it unfolds.

If you love storytelling, transformation, and growth that’s actually lived (not just talked about), you’re in the right place.

✨ Real life. Real growth. Bold moves.

So come closer. I don’t bite!

Gbemi Up Close

This week has been a heavy one for me and my family.

Every Saturday, I usually share a new video here. However, I recently lost someone very dear to me, and in her honor, I will not be posting this week.

I’m taking this time to reflect, grieve, and be present with loved ones.

Thank you for always showing love and support. I truly appreciate this community more than you know. šŸ¤

I’ll be back next week.

✨ Next video is a lighter one…

After all the deep conversations lately, we’re switching gears a bit šŸ’šŸ¾ā€ā™€ļø
I’ll be reviewing ‪@BetterLengthHair‬ clip-ins in my next video — honest thoughts after a year of usage.

Quick question before it drops this Saturday šŸ‘€

šŸ‘‰ Are you more interested in hair protective styling or everyday glam?

Gbemi Up Close

Cutting my 4C hair and changing how I think about health weren’t random decisions.
They came from listening to my body, unlearning a lot, and choosing long-term peace over short-term comfort.

If you watched either video, I’d really love to know:
šŸ‘‰ What’s one habit or belief you’ve had to unlearn recently?

Let’s talk šŸ¤

Gbemi Up Close

Today is my birthday šŸ¤ and I couldn’t think of a better day to share this video.

My 4th video on Gbemi Up Close just went live, and it’s a conversation with my husband where we talk about how we got married in the US on a budget, for less than $40.

We shared the practical details, the decisions we made, and the mindset behind it. It wasn’t fancy, but it was intentional, and it worked for us. Sometimes love is not about how much you spend, but how clear and united you are.

This video is special to me not just because it’s my birthday, but because it reflects what this channel is about. Real life, real choices, and doing things your own way even when it doesn’t look like everyone else’s.

What matters more to you, the wedding or the marriage?

Gbemi Up Close

My third video is a really special one for me šŸ¤

It’s my first ever solo video on this channel and others, and I honestly had to push myself a bit to hit record šŸ˜….

In this video, I talk about my braces journey, but not just from an aesthetics angle. I shared how braces intersected with my pregnancy, my health and lifestyle, and the things that helped me stay consistent even when pregnancy hormones were doing their absolute most.

Yes, there was a very affordable wig involved and yes, it stressed me out šŸ˜‚ — but beneath the humor, we talked about real things. Choosing long-term health, investing in yourself, listening to your body, and giving yourself grace during seasons that feel overwhelming.

This video really reflects what Gbemi Up Close is about. Honest conversations, growth in real time, and failing forward even when things are not neat or perfect.

If you’ve watched it already, thank you šŸ¤
If you haven’t, I’d love to know what part resonated with you the most.

Gbemi Up Close

Have you watched my first two videos yet? šŸ‘€

They’re a two-part conversation with Thandie, where I was doing her makeup while we talked about real life. From our birth stories, to navigating our careers, to her incredibly honest story of losing her husband at a young age.

It was one of those conversations that starts casually and slowly becomes deep, reflective, and very human. We laughed, we paused, and we shared parts of our journeys that aren’t always easy to put into words.

If you haven’t watched yet, I’d love for you to start with Part 1, then continue with Part 2.

Let me know which part resonated with you most šŸ¤

Gbemi Up Close

Hi friends šŸ‘‹šŸ½

My name is Gbemi, and welcome to Gbemi Up Close.

I’m so excited and honestly a little nervous to finally start this channel, but we move regardless šŸ˜….

This space was created to document my growth, not just the wins but the mistakes, the lessons, and the moments where things do not go according to plan. I truly believe in failing forward. Trying, learning, adjusting, and continuing anyway. Because if you wait to have it all figured out, you might wait forever.

Here, I’ll be sharing life as it’s happening. The challenges I’m navigating, the things I’m unlearning, the progress I’m making, and the grace it takes to keep going when perfection is not the goal. This channel is not about soft life aesthetics alone. Sometimes it is soft life, sometimes it is ā€œah ah, what is even going on hereā€ life 😭.

I started Gbemi Up Close because I wanted a space that feels real, relatable, and human. A place where growth is loud, mistakes are allowed, and we can laugh, reflect, and grow together.

Thank you for being here from the very beginning šŸ¤
This is just the start, and I’m grateful to have you along for the journey.

What does failing forward look like for you right now?
