🚨 This Friday here in western Illinois is what I call a “Magic X Day!" 🚨
Not only is Friday a "Magic X Day," it has higher than normal high pressure and lower than normal low temps and these conditions fall WITHIN THE WEEK LEADING UP TO THE FULL MOON.
This is a perfect storm that could only be made more powerful by being later in October.
I hear so many people say they are waiting until the rut or that the deer they are hunting is nocturnal. In my opinion there is no mid October lull. The only lull when chasing mature bucks in October is the time between high pressure fronts.
Right now IS a phase of the rut, it is a build up of testosterone and a TERRITORY marking or CRUISING phase (not to be confused with cruising for does, even if they bump them around the plot they are just flexing).
If you have a buck patterned and especially if you know the main scrapes he is using along food sources the odds are very high he will be there Friday evening. Possibly one of the highest odds sits of the season, even if he’s been nocturnal.
Don’t get behind your target deer. Think like a deer, PREDICT his next move and get ahead of him before he becomes just a random daylight pic.

The past three deer seasons we have been hunting Marshall Co, IL. There are two videos that will get released here shortly from these past few seasons. We break down the strategy deployed on two separate farms (one was a permission farm) to get on some GIANT deer!
