We bless others and receive many blessings ourselves with regular temple attendance. As beautiful as they are, there's more to the temple than meets the eye. In the April 2024 general conference, President Russell M. Nelson said, "We are instructed that all who worship in the temple will have the power of God and angels having “charge over them.” How much does it increase your confidence to know that, as an endowed woman or man armed with the power of God, you do not have to face life alone? What courage does it give you to know that angels really will help you?"

The beautiful Kirtland Temple. I was there the month after the Church purchased it from Community of Christ. The Spirit was very strong. It was amazing to have our missionaries give the tour and teach about the appearance of Jesus Christ, Moses, Elias, and Elijah to the Prophet Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery. This literally fulfilled the prophecy of Elijah returning before the Second Coming:

Malachi 4:5-6

5 ¶ Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord:

6 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.

While the Kirtland Temple was the first temple built in this dispensation, it was not the first one announced. We're still waiting for that primary temple to be built in Independence, Jackson County, Missouri in the location currently known as the "Temple Lot." It will happen someday soon!

On June 10th, Adam-ondi-Ahman was struck by a tornado for the first time since records were standardized in 1950. We only have the coordinates of the start and end points from the National Weather Service report. The end point was on the north side of Adam-ondi-Ahman. It's unknown whether the tornado touched Spring Hill, Tower Hill, or the valley, but there was definitely wind damage in these areas as evidenced by all the snapped trees and branches. The pictures in this post are from Spring Hill and Tower Hill.

The new and the old Independence City Halls. At this point the old one is almost completely demolished.

We've only lived here about a year and a half and so much has changed! This city keeps looking better and better.

This was my first time inside the Carthage Jail. I had no idea that it still has the original flooring as well as the original door to the room in which Joseph and Hyrum Smith were shot. The bullet that went through the door is the one that struck Hyrum Smith in the face.

Smoke from the Cottonwood Fire at the Manti Utah Temple. The Cottonwood Fire is very close to "megafire" status which will happen if it reaches 100,000 acres burned. The Babylon Fire in southeastern Utah has already crossed that threshold and is now the largest wildfire currently burning in the U.S.
