Here I showcase an interesting way to visualise music with a kind of fractal/psychedelic hologram effect using my 3-color laser projector system using a WiFi speaker system and an old reflective anti-static bag used to ship electronics! And no better music to visualise with such a system than the inventive and idiosyncratic music of the great Richard Feynman. Enjoy the patterns made by marimbas, congas and his famous bongo drums in this rare series of recordings!✳

I discuss a principle of biological evolution that always fascinated me: convergent evolution. The ways in which environments shape the various genetic endowments of life on Earth into optimized body plans allows them to thrive in very specialized ways in unique niches that only a handful of organisms can inhabit.

It is interesting that in the most competitive and/or hostile biological niches we begin to see similar body plans emerge. In conditions where variables for life are constrained, such as in a desert, we often see this evolutionary-driven optimization towards a particular body-type take place and this is particularly true of the plants that inhabit the desert areas of the world. I also make some playful speculation at the end about how convergent evolution could create cactus-like alien plant life on other planets, assuming that the body plan achieved by earth plant life for conserving water is replicated on other worlds throughout the universe.
