Tomorrow is the day! The NEBOSH Exam is finally here. 🎓

You can log into the NEBOSH Platform at any time, but the paper and answer sheet will only be available to download from 11am UK time.

NEBOSH are VERY strict on submission times. Extreme circumstances aside, late submissions are not accepted.

Crucial Reminders:
Tech Issues: If you have technical difficulties, you MUST contact NEBOSH on their Live Chat before the deadline so they can assist with a manual upload.
Correct Documents: It is YOUR responsibility to ensure the correct file is uploaded. You cannot swap it after the deadline!

Log on well before 11am to upload your paper. Don't leave it until the last second, and triple-check your document!

We are wishing you the absolute best of luck. Read the questions carefully, use your scenario, and show off your understanding.

May the Force be With You!

You will pass or fail based on whether you understand the question. 🧐

Contrary to popular belief, NEBOSH questions are written in Plain English.

I once had a student ask me to explain what the word "explain" meant in an exam question. The irony! It means exactly what it means in the dictionary.

NEBOSH uses words very intentionally. If a word is in a question, it is signposting you in a specific direction.

Our advice:
Dissect the entire question word by word.
If you don't know a word, Google it or use a dictionary!
Take your time reading the questions carefully. It is never wasted time.

Don't ignore the signs!

Want an easy trick to keep track of your marks? Use NUMBERED bullet points.

When you are writing more answers than there are marks available (like we talked about yesterday!), you need to keep track.

Imagine answering a 20 mark question. Do you really want to waste time counting 25 different points in a massive block of text? No.

Numbered bullet points are easy to count at a glance.

Remember, a bullet point is NOT a simple list.

You can, and should, write a full paragraph within a bullet point to properly explain your answer and link it to the scenario.

NEBOSH won't award marks for simple lists, but they love a well explained, numbered point.

Make it easy for the examiner to give you marks!

A 10-mark question means 10 answers, right? WRONG. ❌

One of the most common recipes for failure I see is learners only writing the exact number of answers as there are marks available.

Some answers might be wrong, too similar to previous points, or just not explained enough to earn the mark.

If you want to pass, give yourself a safety net:
10 mark question? Write 15 answers.
20 mark question? Aim for 25 to 30 answers.

Did you know a 10-mark question usually has around 15 markable points on the marking scheme? There is no shortage of correct things to say. Don't half heart it!

We’ve put together a YouTube playlist demonstrating the exact approach you should take on exam day.

Even if you get completely different questions, understanding the core process, reading the question, researching the answer, planning, and writing, is invaluable. You never know, you might just get lucky and see one of these pop up!

🛑 We can never truly switch off...

Is it just us, or does working in Health & Safety completely ruin your weekend errands?

You go to the supermarket for a pint of milk and end up doing a dynamic risk assessment on a precarious baked bean display in Aisle 4. You walk past a neighbour cleaning their gutters and mentally calculate the angle of their ladder.

Once you learn to spot the hazards, you can never unsee them. The H&S brain never sleeps! 😂

What is the worst "hazard in the wild" you've spotted while off the clock this weekend? Let us know below! 👇
