At Forgotten Weapons I think the most interesting guns out there are the most obscure ones. I try to search out experimental and prototype weapons and show you how they work, in addition to more conventional guns that you may not have heard of before. This is that 1943 one-off Thompson in .30-06, being shown by its former owner many, many years ago. Note the unusual operating system, which does not appear to have been noticed or highlighted by RIA or anyone who talked about it during that auction. Eventually I will get my hands on it for filming, and when I do I will break down the whole this to show it to you.

If you are going to be in Vegas next week for SHOT (or because you live there), you should stop by the Antique Arms Show on Friday to day hello! I'll be doing a book signing at the show from 11am to noon. The Antique Arms show is a public gun show with plenty of cool stuff to see and buy, not a trade convention like SHOT. It's at the Westgate Resort, at 3000 Paradise Road.

While browsing Americana Pipedream for stuff I shouldn't buy, I noticed that they have scope cases for MAS 49 and 49/56 rifles - the APX L806 scopes. They are missing the carry straps, and I can't tell if the closure snap is missing or just folded inside, but for $20 they are a great deal for anyone with one of these scopes. (This isn't sponsored or anything; just a good opportunity I noticed for my fellow French collectors)
