Across history, in every culture and civilization, human beings have returned to the same central pursuit. To understand consciousness, meaning, and the hidden structures behind religion, symbol, and myth.

S.E.E.K. exists to continue this inquiry with clarity and responsibility. Through careful research and education, we explore the esoteric traditions of mystery schools, initiatic societies, and influential mystical thinkers, the entheogenic foundations of global spirituality found in sacred psychedelic plants, and the mystical dimensions present within the major world religions. This work approaches spirituality not as belief to be defended, but as experience, symbolism, and historical transmission.

Supporting S.E.E.K. on Patreon provides the general funding necessary to sustain this educational effort. Supporters receive ad free content, early access to new material, and a shout out in the credits of all long form content. December 13th: Honoring Santa Lucia

Today, on December 13th, we observe the Day of Santa Lucia, a festival rooted in the veneration of light during the darkest time of the year. Santa Lucia, or Saint Lucy, has long been celebrated in both Christian and pre-Christian traditions as a symbol of illumination and spiritual clarity. Her name, derived from lux, Latin for light, marks her as a guide who leads the soul from darkness toward divine insight. Historically, her feast coincides with the winter solstice period, echoing ancient rituals that honored the return of the sun and the triumph of light over shadow.

Santa Lucia’s story is not only one of Christian martyrdom but also a reflection of esoteric and mystical symbolism. In various spiritual lineages, she embodies the awakening of consciousness and the illumination of the inner self. Her feast resonates with the perennial theme of light as wisdom, a motif found across mystery schools, Hermetic teachings, and initiatic traditions. Just as the sun steadily overcomes the long nights, the Day of Santa Lucia invites reflection on the illumination of the mind, the purification of the heart, and the rekindling of hope in times of darkness.

Celebrating Santa Lucia today is a reminder that spiritual awakening is a process of light entering the human soul. The traditions of candles, processions, and songs surrounding this day represent the conscious effort to invite higher knowledge into daily life. As we honor Santa Lucia, we connect with a lineage of seekers and mystics who have long associated light with guidance, wisdom, and divine presence. Let this day inspire a renewed commitment to cultivating clarity, compassion, and insight in both our personal journeys and collective human experience.

“It is sometimes said that what the Buddha is to Buddhism, Mahavira is to Jainism.
Although the two traditions depict the Buddha and Mahavira differently, the two great religious leaders also have some similarities. They each taught doctrines that rejected the authority of the Vedas and the efficacy of Vedic rituals. The Buddha and Mahavira both advocated a disciplined way of living that led to spiritual purification, the attainment of enlightenment, and liberation from the cycle of rebirths. They both acquired a community of mendicant and lay followers who strove to preserve their teachings and produced elaborate narratives about their lives as examples on how to live... Although older than the Buddha, Mahavira was also born into an aristocratic family in the Ganges Basin and decided to renounce a comfortable life in order to pursue a spiritual path.

Mahavira’s decision to leave the life of a householder was followed by a ritual of renunciation… With it Mahavira started observing demanding ascetic practices, which followed his resolve to abandon concern for the body, relinquish all passions, and burn off karma through arduous austerities… Various sources describe the austerities that Mahavira bore throughout the next years in great detail. He refrained from injuring even the smallest of creatures, letting them crawl all over him and even hurt him, and he calmly endured hardships when people assaulted him with sticks, fists, and clods, or cut his body and covered him with dirt. Speaking and sleeping little, he meditated in difficult conditions, such as under a hot sun during the summer and in the shade during the winter.

After twelve years, six months, and fifteen days of observing such rigorous asceticism, he is said to have attained omniscience, that is, perfect knowledge of everything there is, which in Jainism guarantees the fulfillment of liberation in the same life this state of consciousness is reached. Thereby Mahavira embarked on a path of a tirthankara [Supreme Jain Teacher].”

“Illustrations of this cosmic ‘man’, or Lokapurusha [in Jainism], can be found in many Jain manuscripts. Interestingly, the three parts represent three ‘worlds’ [called ‘Lokas’]. The torso denotes various heavens filled with pleasure and the legs denote a series of hells consumed by torture. The most important, albeit the smallest, is the circle at the waist; it is where human beings can reside.

These three worlds [or Lokas] are the areas where souls travel on their spiritual journey, through a continuous cycle of rebirths according to their karma. This ends when they have perfected themselves and attained salvation. When this happens, the soul floats to the top of the universe and eternally resides in the crescent-shaped realm above the heavens, shown at the forehead of the Lokapurusha.”

S.E.E.K. marks its first year today, and the occasion carries the feeling of a chamber finally illuminated after long preparation. What began as a commitment to articulate the esoteric and entheogenic dimensions of global wisdom through careful encyclopedic study became something larger once we chose, at the end of May 2025, to turn that scholarship into living media. That decision mirrored an ancient pattern found in many mystery traditions where knowledge moves from guarded text to embodied experience, from the scroll of the initiate to the open forum of the community.

Across this year, S.E.E.K. has grown not only in reach but in depth. The conversations in our community reflect the thoughtful rigor once found in the old academies of Alexandria and later in the contemplative circles of Central Asian Sufis who carried insight through story and symbol rather than static record. The shift toward media allowed these currents to speak more naturally, in the same way that the Mazatec healer lifts the sacred mushroom not as an object of study but as a living teacher, or the Hermetic student lifts the inner sun of awareness toward higher clarity.

This community has made that possible. Every question, every thoughtful exchange, and every moment of sincere curiosity has helped turn S.E.E.K. into a place where comparative wisdom is lived rather than merely cataloged. For that, we offer our gratitude to all who walk with us. Your participation is the energy that keeps this work moving, much like the ancient understanding that the light within the sanctuary is sustained by those who enter with reverence.

Next month S.E.E.K. will open a new chapter with the unveiling of a redesigned website and marketplace that brings our work into a unified sanctuary of study and exploration. The platform will host a curated bookstore, an art and artifacts collection for purchase, membership offerings, private video archives, and full courses through TutorLMS that allow deeper engagement with the esoteric and entheogenic sciences. This expansion is meant to function like the inner chamber of the ancient temples where diverse tools of learning were gathered in one place so that seekers could advance at their own rhythm. It is our way of creating a modern threshold where study, experience, and community can meet.

Year one is complete, yet this is only the beginning. The coming chapters will carry more teachings, more research, more creative media, and more opportunities to explore the spiritual sciences that shaped so many cultures across time. Just as the solar path returns each morning with renewed brilliance, S.E.E.K. enters its next cycle ready to expand and to serve with greater clarity.

Thank you for being part of this early ascent. Much more awaits.

“[Within the Bön Tradition in Tibet]...the name Kuntu Zangpo means ‘that which is most excellent and present in all places.’ Thus our ancient texts refer to Kuntu Zangpo as being ‘Self-Awareness’, ‘True Self’ and ‘Source of the Self’…

In the introduction to an English translation of selections from the 'Bonpo Book of the Dead', John Myrdhin Reynolds says, ‘The Homage, with which the Tibetan text opens, invokes the Primordial Buddha Kuntu Zangpo… as being the Self-Awareness (rang-rig) which clearly reveals itself at the heart or core of every single individual sentient being.

This Self-Awareness clearly reveals and shows itself in the guise of the ordinary everyday conscious life of the individual. Consciousness or awareness in itself testifies to the presence of Kuntu Zangpo, the Primordial Buddha.

Kuntu Zanpo, the Primordial Buddha…is, therefore, like a mirror that reflects everything. Kuntu Zangpo is the Bodhichitta or the Nature of Mind... as such… He has never been touched or corrupted by the emotional defilements… that represent the actual causes of Samsara…

Therefore, He represents a state of total primordial purity (ka-dag chen-po) and is the embodiment of the Dharmakaya itself (bon-sku), the ultimate aspect of Buddhahood and enlightenment.

He is represented as a nude Buddha figure, lacking any ornaments or adornments, sitting in meditation position in the center of the infinitude of space. This textual tradition frequently references the symbolism of the syllable “A,” visually rendered at Kuntu Zangpo’s heart in Bön iconography. “A” stands for the unborn, indefinite, and inexpressible source."

"Tonpa Shenrab [is] the founder and most important figure of the Bön religion. The Bön religion is essentially a variant of Tibetan Buddhism with many ancient pre-Buddhist elements.

It is widely believed in the Bön religion that Shenrab was born 16,016 years ago in Olmo Lungring (called Tagzig at the time). He lived for 81 Shen years or 8,100 human years throughout which he taught the fundamentals of Bön.

In order to pacify all sentient beings, he emanated millions of enlightened teachers into millions of worlds, spreading peace. Motivated by his compassion for sentient beings in a cyclical existence, Tonpa Shenrab pacified their sufferings, and ultimately released them from ailments like attachment, ignorance, aversion, jealousy, pride, and desire. These beings entered the state of 'Buddahood' by following Shenrab.

Tonpa Shenrab also conducted lessons on solitude and removing sufferings caused by worldly collections. He sat in isolation and eventually his followers sat around him. He instilled intellect in those who needed it and instructed them to go in retreat. To liberate his followers, he finally instructed them on meditating at the highest stage of the great vehicle.

They should have great compassion. This way, the nature of Bon could be perfected in the mind. Finally, in order to ensure peace in the future, he bestowed inexpressible Bön on his followers.

Bön has no birth or death since the nature of the mind does not have death. And, in a similar fashion, Shenrab does not have birth or death, but in his mission to pacify impermanent beings, he allowed himself to pass beyond the cyclic existence. This helped show the helplessness of life. Shenrab caused himself to become ill with a sickness. Despite his retinues’ attempts to revive him, he passed beyond sorrow."

LSD and the Cosmic Awakening: Honoring Albert Hofmann’s Visionary Discovery

On November 16th, 1938, a moment in scientific history quietly changed the course of human consciousness. Swiss chemist Albert Hofmann, working at Sandoz Laboratories in Basel, first synthesized lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD-25).

What seemed like a routine step in ergot research would later open up an unprecedented frontier into the mind itself.

Today, S.E.E.K. celebrates Hofmann’s discovery not only as a milestone in chemistry but as a catalyst for inner exploration, mystical experience, and modern consciousness studies. LSD became more than a scientific curiosity.

It bridged the worlds of neurochemistry, spirituality, art, and esoteric insight.
From transpersonal psychology to visionary mysticism, its legacy continues to inspire seekers to ask deeper questions about mind, meaning, and the hidden dimensions of reality.

This is not a call to use, but to remember how discovery, curiosity, and consciousness intertwine in the grand experiment of being.

As Hofmann himself once wrote about his “problem child,” the true journey is not outer expansion, but the inward awakening to mystery, unity, and the infinite potential of mind.

Join us in reflecting on the legacy of November 16, 1938... the day the psychedelic age quietly began in a Swiss laboratory.

"The bhavachakra (Wheel of Life) is a symbolic representation of cyclic existence or samsara. Legend has it that the Buddha himself designed the first illustration of the wheel of life. At its center are three animals (a pig, a rooster, and a snake) representing the three poisons of ignorance, attachment, and aversion that keep beings trapped in the cycle of suffering. This central hub fuels karma, depicted in the next ring, which moves beings upward or downward based on their actions. Surrounding this is the depiction of the six realms of existence (gods, demigods, humans, animals, hungry ghosts, and hell beings) where beings cycle through rebirths [This example has five, combining the Gods and Demigods realms into one section]. The outermost rim depicts the twelve links of dependent origination, illustrating the process by which ignorance leads through formations, consciousness, name-and-form, six senses, contact, feeling, craving, grasping, becoming, birth, and ultimately to aging and death, perpetuating the endless cycle of samsara. The whole wheel is held by a fearsome figure symbolizing impermanence and death (Yama). Above the wheel is the moon, symbolizing liberation; the Buddha’s hand points toward it, indicating the possibility of release from this cycle.”
