The 2% Brief

Gold is rising. Silver is slipping. Oil has eased. Equities still look calm.

But the inflation numbers are not giving a clean all-clear, and the market signals are not all pointing in the same direction.

In today’s video, I look at why gold may be acting as the cleaner protection trade, why silver is not fully following, and why next week’s employment and PMI data could matter for both metals.

Do you think silver follows gold higher in June, or does it start to lag behind?

The 2% Brief

Tonight at 7:00 pm UK time, I’m looking at a market contradiction that deserves more attention.

Gold is rising, silver is slipping, oil has eased, and equities still look calm. But the inflation numbers are not giving a clean all-clear.

The question is simple: are markets right to stay relaxed, or are gold and silver warning that something still does not add up?

New video live tonight at 7:00 pm UK / 2:00 pm EST / 11:00 am PST.

The 2% Brief

Gold has slipped again today.

Gold is now down around 2% over the past 24 hours to $4,394, while silver is also down around 2% to $73.49.

That makes last night’s video more relevant, not less.

Was Warren Buffett right to avoid gold because it produces no earnings, dividends or cashflow?

Or is gold doing a different job in this market — not as a business, but as financial insurance?

I covered that in last night’s video:

Gold Investors: Was Buffett Wrong About Gold?

The 2% Brief

Warren Buffett has avoided gold for decades because it does not produce anything.

No dividend.
No earnings.
No compounding.

But gold is up 36% this year, and silver is up 128%.

So is Buffett wrong — or are investors using gold for something completely different from what he was criticising?

Today’s video looks at gold as financial insurance, why silver complicates the argument, and why the old Buffett view may be right but incomplete.

Then, if it starts reasonably, put out a YouTube Community post around 3:30–4:30pm saying:

Oil is falling, but silver and gold are rising — today’s short market update is live now.

The 2% Brief

Start here before tonight’s Inner Circle briefing.

Yesterday’s video looked at whether markets are misreading the warning from gold, silver, oil, consumer data and wider market stress.

👉 Gold $4,510, Silver Falls — Are Markets Misreading the Warning?

Since recording that video, the reported US-Iran deal discussions and possible Strait of Hormuz reopening have become even more important.

At 7pm GMT tonight, Inner Circle members on Substack will receive the full weekly briefing, including the three oil scenarios I’m watching, the key gold and silver levels, and why relief is not the same as resolution.

Free subscribers will also receive a short audio update.

The 2% Brief

New video just published

Gold has pulled back to around $4,510, silver has slipped, oil remains high, and consumer data is starting to flash a warning.

The question is simple: are markets correctly reading the signal — or are investors misreading why gold and silver have pulled back?

Are gold and silver simply pausing, or is this a bigger warning?

The 2% Brief

Silver fell sharply while oil moved higher — and that combination matters because it changes how investors should read inflation, liquidity and safe-haven demand.

Yesterday’s full video looks at what may matter next for gold, silver and the wider market.

Then at 7pm UK time, Inner Circle members on Substack will receive a deeper look at the key figures for the coming week and what they may signal for markets.

The 2% Brief

Silver fell sharply on Friday — but the more important signal may be what happened around it.

Oil surged.
Inflation pressure rose.
Retail sales weakened.
Equities fell.

So was Friday’s silver crash just a correction after a strong run — or the first sign that markets are entering a more difficult phase?

In today’s video, I look at what this means for silver, gold, oil, the Fed, and the key levels investors should be watching next.

The 2% Brief

Gold and silver have both pulled back today — but the bigger question has not gone away.

Gold is down around $11 at $4,681, while silver is down roughly $3 at $84.88. Even after that move, silver has recently been showing much stronger relative momentum than gold.

So is silver simply correcting after a sharp rise — or is it starting to trade on a different story altogether?

In today’s video, I look at why silver could begin to separate from gold if trade improves, oil remains elevated, and inflation pressure stays in the system.
