Ever since I was a wee lad, my family used to go to the Outer Banks in North Carolina. Beach as far as the eye could see. There was always one place that we would pass by that got me giddy with excitement... the dune buggy rental shop.
I dreamed of driving one. I picture floating over the sand dunes. Flying down the coastline line with the sea mist gently kissing my face. Alas, it was only a dream. It was always too expensive to rent. When I got older, trying to rent a dune buggy in the US with a Canadian license wasn't that easy.
For so long, it was still a dream, but could it become a reality?
Queue the grinding brain gears!
My idea for 2026 is to design and build a dune buggy. Where I currently live (undisclosed), there’s a treasure trove of used car parts at incredible prices. This series will delve into advanced methods of using parameters to drive the design, frame analysis, front and rear suspension, and more. The excitement is building! The giddiness is starting yet again!
Question is, would you be interested in seeing this dream come true? If so, please love this post so I know if you would like to see this. What else would you like as part of this series? Drawings? Animation (exploded views)? Generative design? Also, full transparency, I have never designed something like this before, so do you have any helpful resources that you could send my way?
Hope this is as exciting to you as it is to me. Hope we can spend some time learning this together. Thanks again for everyone's support.
