Orientalist Gabriel Syed Reynolds is a pseudo scholar. He says the Quran refuting the muhsrikun for worshipping Lat, Manat, and Uzza could be a "literary motiphe" and that maybe no such pagans actually existed 😂😂.

Two Disclaimers regarding “Intertextuality” Videos. 1) A bunch of these connections are probabilistic. So unless something is 100% very plainly the case and agreed upon by the ulema, know that I am talking in probabilistic terms, not definity claiming the Quran is doing x. This is just a safer way to approach the data lest one say something Allah didn’t intend. One could also say that the effect of Allah’s words is to for ex. refute X instead of saying that Allah is directly refuting X. One could also approach it as “look, if you claim Muhammadﷺ authored this then you would have to claim that he knew xyz and is correcting intentionally xyz and this would be a huge stretch considering he was illiterate etc.”- so in this way it is placed as a hypothetical for the one claiming the Quran is from Muhammad ﷺ- rather than ascribing x to Allah directly.
2) The term “intertext” I think is plausibly anachronistic. Allahu alam but it is very plausibly the case that Allah is not “dialoguing” with specific texts but rather with the Ahlul kitab who hold such beliefs (of course, based on their texts). This is just a slight nuance. However, with regards to the Torah and Injil, I think it can be said more confidently that Allah is confirming things in those texts directly and correcting corruptions in them directly. An evidence for may be Allah’s statement
And We have revealed to you, [O Muḥammad], the Book [i.e., the Qur’ān] in truth, confirming that which preceded it of the Scripture and as a criterion over it
So here conformation and also plausibly correction are said in relation to the previous scriptures themselves directly. And Allahu alam.
I retract using the narration about Muadh going to Shaam and seeing the christians prostrate… The one which has the prophet ﷺ saying they (ahlul kitab) have lied about their prophets like they corrupted their books. It seems that from the phrase “they have lied about their prophets like they corrupted their books” to the end of the hadith is not authentic according to Al Arnaut.
