Ankoth is a raw, experimental British solo metal act founded in 2018 by songwriter, producer, multi instrumentalist, lyricist and vocalist Shadow von Nyx. Named after the old Cornish word for all things uncouth, queer, bizarre, and weird, Ankoth delivers heavy, aggressive, and highly unique music. Moving away from digital audio workstations (DAWs), all tracks are now captured with the filthy, authentic sound of analogue gear, primarily recorded on the Fostex 160 cassette tape four-track recorder. Expect a varied sonic landscape blending the haunting sound of the EHX mel9 #mellotron pedal, #speedmetal , #thrashmetal , #stenchcore, #crustpunk , and #symphonicmetal . Influences range from 80s speed metal, NWOBHM, and 70s punk to orchestral movements, dark ambient music, musical theatre, cinematic music, world music, and video game OSTs.
