Welcome to TBT!
In a time of confusion & deception that is pervasive today, our aim is to bring bold Biblical content with clarity. As one small voice among many, we see the need for reform & are speaking up to return to the simplicity of the Gospel of Jesus Christ & the Apostle's Doctrine.
We also talk about abuse and misuse of God's Word, in the prosperity other gospels as the Lord may lead. 2 Cor 11: 4
We are ordinary believers and disciples. God chooses to use the foolish things to confound the wise. 1 Cor 1: 27 & 2 Cor 4: 7

RARE FINDS AND PRECIOUS MEMORIES....
While looking for our son's old baseball cards today, I came across some letters my mother wrote to me while away at College one semester. They dated back 53 years-to1973. Good grief. I can't believe how long ago that was!
Reading those letters landed me in a puddle of tears. It was like I could hear her voice while reading her words. I didn't even know I saved/ had these letters! Such a rare and precious find.
I was taken back by her motherly concern and understanding during a time of transition and in a college that was way too difficult for me to keep up with. I transferred the following year to VCU in my home town of Richmond, VA and finished my degree in while living at home. Although Elementary Ed wasn't my first choice, they didn't offer Spanish as a major at the time. That's what I really wanted to major in and study abroad for a semester then be able to teach at the High School level.
I realized how blessed I was to have a mother so understanding, wise and patient. My dad was understanding too. They didn't pressure me or make me feel bad for struggling academically after jumping through so many hoops to get me in College in the first place. They let me find my own way while be supportive in the process. I worked my tail end off trying to make them proud and keep my grades passing, but we finally finished and was able to earn a B.S. in Elementary Education in 1976 with some tutoring along the way. Looking back, I beleive I had some form of dyslexia from the time I was very young. Math, Reading and English were torture for me.
As an added bonus today, I also came across some letters from two College gal pals who wrote to me the same year while at Mary Washington, and a dear neighbor of ours who was like a second mom to me, Diann Mills. She and her husband were very instrumental in getting me into College in the first place since I really struggled in my academics from grade school up through High School.
What special memories!
Thank you Lord for a Mom and Dad (especially my Momma) that stood with me side by side until the day she died. I will always love and appreciate you, Momma. You were the best!
Thank you Lord for friends then and now, who were the best!
It's always a good thing to recall how God blessed your life and the special people He used to encourage you along the way...especially a Mother!

We all have flaws and make mistakes. But the thing that gets God's attention most about us is our heart attitude. Here are a few passages to encourage you today...
Psalm 34:18 "The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit." (NKJV)
This is perhaps the premier passage on a contrite heart:
Psalm 51:17 "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart—These, O God, You will not despise."
One of my favorite passages about the heart is this one:
Isaiah 57:15 "For thus says the High and Lofty One...I dwell in the high and holy place, With him who has a contrite and humble spirit,
To revive the spirit of the humble, And to revive the heart of the contrite ones."
Isaiah 66:2 "But on this one will I look: On him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, And who trembles at My word."
Shalom brothers and sisters!🙏❤🙏

Joshua delivered a succinct, biblically accurate, bold yet compassionate commentary on this horrible horrible situation.
Like it or not, more truth is being told. God is cleaning house.
Click on the link to hear his full commentary about the Hagen Family and Rhema Ministry situation.
I’m sure Kenneth Hagan would be rolling over in his grave if he knew this had gone on as long as it did.
I believe he would’ve dealt with it immediately.

Truth Be Told!
I believe one reason why people really struggle with discussing divorce in the church and throw down the “do not judge card” is that it is NOT addressed scripturally from the pulpit. This is because many so-called pastors are guilty of it themselves. (1 Tim 3; Titus 1; 1 Peter 5).
People argue against the fact that adultery was committed here because so many Christians in the church today have remarried themselves for unbiblical reasons and this makes the whole issue a hard pill to swallow.
There are 2 biblical reasons that allow for divorce (sexual immorality and abandonment), but clearly Joni’s marrying Doug Weiss was not one of them. (Mathew 19: 8 &9; 1 Cor 7: 10-15)
Yes, Marcus Lamb died, but Doug Weiss’s wife did not. So by marrying a divorced man for unbiblical reasons, Joni became a partaker of adultery herself.

Be encouraged truth speakers. God is calling for reform and it isn't easy but God will have His way in His Ekklesia. No man or movement can stop what the Holy Spirit is doing in this hour.

Truth Be Told!
This is meant as a general statement, not directed toward any individual but rather personal insight gleaned from years of my own missteps and depending upon man rather than Jesus and the Word of God...
There really are no shortcuts to spiritual maturity. Discipleship was never meant to create a co-dependency upon a man or woman or get some special anointing or power from someone else that you can only receive from Christ Himself.
Discipleship is about pointing others to the Word of God and encouraging them to develop an intimate relationship with Christ through the Holy Spirit themselves.
"And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee." 2 Corinthians 1: 21-22

Word for the day: “Hubris”
Hubris (noun) is excessive pride, arrogance, or self-confidence, especially when someone believes they are superior to others or beyond correction.
Hubristic (adjective) describes behavior that shows hubris.
Examples:
* “His hubris led him to ignore wise counsel.”
* “The leader’s hubristic claims made many people uncomfortable.”
Synonyms: arrogance, pride, conceit, haughtiness, self-importance, overconfidence.
In the Bible, hubris is closely related to what Scripture calls pride:
“Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.” — Proverbs 16:18
Hubris is a great word because it carries a stronger meaning than ordinary pride. It refers to excessive, arrogant pride that causes a person to overestimate themselves, reject correction, or act as though they are above others, above the rules, or even above God.
In classical Greek literature, hubris often described the kind of pride that inevitably led to a person’s downfall. That’s why it pairs so well with verses like- “Therefore let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall.”
— 1 Corinthians 10:12 (ESV)
Spiritual leaders can fall into hubris when they begin to see themselves as untouchable or beyond accountability.
Related words:
* Arrogance – an attitude of superiority.
* Conceit – an exaggerated opinion of oneself.
Hubris is pride carried to the point of self-deception and downfall. Given the church reform topics discussed today, “hubris” is often used to describe leaders who become insulated from correction and accountability because of fame, power, or influence.
