Golden Vagabonders

Welcome to Golden Vagabonders!
We’re Rich & Tracie — two Aussies in our 50s who decided life was too short to wait for “one day.” So we packed up, left Australia, and began building a life of freedom, travel, and curiosity across Asia and beyond.

🌏 Travel After 50 is Different.
We focus on comfort, community, lifestyle, cost of living, and actually living well — not backpacker chaos.
If you’re thinking about moving abroad, slow travel, or simply exploring more deeply later in life — you’re in the right place.

💬 Real Conversations.
We talk honestly about visas, cost of living, relationships, identity, and what it really feels like to start again in your 50s.

❤️ Our Mission:
To show that adventure doesn’t end after 50 — it opens up.

🚨 Stopped at Immigration on Our Thai–Malaysia Border Run 😳✈️

Well… our “quick border hop” turned into a full-on interrogation.
Malaysian immigration pulled us aside, asked a LOT of questions, and taught us a big lesson about onward tickets and visa rules.

We made a full video breaking down:
🇲🇾 What actually happened
🧾 What paperwork they asked for
🛂 Why we were flagged
✈️ How to avoid this happening to you
💡 What we’ll ALWAYS do differently from now on

We didn’t move to Malaysia for a holiday.
We moved because we were ready for a new chapter.

Our first 8 weeks here were… eye-opening. Beautiful, surprising, emotional, grounding, and challenging in ways we didn’t expect.

If you’re curious what life *really* feels like once you land, this is the one:

For anyone reinventing themselves — we see you.

We made a video about our experience navigating visas in Malaysia — but not in the “expert tutorial” way. Just two people trying to figure it out like everyone else. 😅

It covers:
• Tourist stays
• Digital Nomad options
• MM2H (what we learned)
• And why we’re considering future economic zones

If you're curious about living in Malaysia, give it a watch 🌴

**Quick reminder:** We’re just sharing our journey. Always double-check info for your own situation. 🙏

We just uploaded something a bit special. ❤️

We sat down with Ash, who left Australia in his 50s to start over in Asia.
This isn’t a highlight reel — it’s an honest chat about fear, excitement, loneliness, new beginnings… and choosing yourself.

If you’ve ever wondered “Is it too late to change everything?” — this one’s for you. 🌏

When we first told people we moved to Malaysia, everyone asked the same thing:

“What’s the cost of living like??”

So we made this walkthrough of our beachside apartment in Penang — and yep, it’s $400 AUD/week. 🏝✨

Would you choose ocean view, city view, or jungle view if you could pick anywhere? 🌊🏙️🌿

One of the biggest questions we get: “What’s the cost of groceries in Malaysia?”

So we filmed a real grocery run — not a fancy expat store, just our local supermarket here in Penang.

We spent $80 AUD and were honestly surprised at how far it went! 🍅🥬🥥

What *feels* expensive where you live at the moment? (Groceries? Fuel? Rent?) Let’s compare 👇
