Do you stand up in the middle of a movie theater when the Death Star blows up and scream, "YOU KNOW THAT'S NOT A REAL SPACE STATION, RIGHT?!" Do you heckle a magician when they saw someone in half? No! So why is professional wrestling the only form of entertainment where people feel the overwhelming need to point out the obvious?

​Let’s be totally honest about what wrestling actually is: it’s a soap opera with stunts. It's scripted drama, it's classic good versus evil, and it's filled with exaggerated, larger-than-life characters. It is fun, make-believe entertainment designed for adults—and by the way, it’s not just for guys; plenty of women love it, too! It’s the exact same concept as those trashy reality shows or those god-awful Tubi movies people binge on the weekends. You think those are real?

​And honestly, let's talk about the glass houses people live in when they judge other people's interests. Buddy, grown men sit around watching talking heads debate NFL mock drafts for six solid hours. Grown men meticulously paint Napoleonic miniatures or obsess over vintage train sets in their basements. Some people sit on the couch all Sunday to watch NASCAR, which—let's be real—is literally just watching cars drive in a circle all day.

​It is perfectly okay to not understand the appeal of wrestling! But as someone once brilliantly said, "Civilization is basically hobbies held together by coffee." Everyone has their thing.

​We watch it because it's a spectacle. We watch it for the athleticism, the storylines, and the escape. We don't care that the outcomes are predetermined. Frankly, at this point, professional wrestling is probably less rigged than a Kansas City Chiefs playoff game anyway.

​So please, save the judgment, let grown men (and women) enjoy their scripted drama in peace, and let people like what they like!
