Anderson Alley Style

Anderson Alley Style is a place for all things home and garden. I invite you to follow my latest journey, as we settle in our 1875 Country Style Home (farmhouse-primitive-cottage inspired), four square, fixer upper, "Alley House". From interior remodels, to layout and design of our gardens this is a journey of love for all things decor and all things home. I love Country Style Living. I appreciate DIY projects using old fashioned make-do ways passed down to me, mixed with modern & practical, affording us a simple & relaxed lifestyle. I have a passion for home making with focus on faith, family, and a place for everyone to feel cozy, warm and welcome. My style is a comfortable mix of old and new, w/, sustainable, quality, sprinkled with random finds that make my heart sing. On any given day you may find me covered in paint, elbow deep in soil, or preparing a homestyle meal. Please come and sit a spell, I am so happy you are here! It's always an adventure. Welcome!

Needing input please!! Our deck at the new house needs attention! It’s now been power washed and needs time to dry out. What color of stain are you all loving right now? I typically use Early American. What do you use? Is there an exterior wood stain you prefer as far as brands go?

BIG LIFE UPDATE! I hope you’re having an amazing day! It’s been noticed by many that the kitchen I’ve been posting looks different. You are right! We are moving!! We are in the middle of transitioning from Alley House to a smaller home with more green space. We are still in the process of sorting and downsizing our belongings at the 1875 home. That house was so good to us. Although it’s an exciting season, it’s been quite an adjustment doing light renovating and big DIY refreshing in a smaller kitchen space with lower ceilings and less storage. I do have some surprises waiting and can’t wait to share. I found a way to expand the space, designed it on a scratch pad, and JPT made it happen! (I’ll explain it all and show you soon!) It’s amazing what a little creativity can do to make a smaller home accommodate and be more functional than any home we’ve ever owned.  I am excited about this next chapter and hope you continue to hang out with me! Here’s a little look at the BEFORE, during and (almost) AFTER kitchen reno and refresh. It’s a work in progress. One project at a time.
