Just broke 900 subs! Dare I ask if we beat 1,000 before the week's out? You guys rock, thank you for making this goofy nerd feel a glimmer of confidence.
My good friend Courtney Jensen (author of The Crown and Caged God) just posted a talk we did a few months ago! Over there I discussed my experience writing rituals and writing degrees. Check out his channel, too. There's a wealth of wisdom there.

This video series has taught me just how much trouble people will go through to justify their bad habits. If you want to write books, you need to read books. If you don't, you will not compete. That's all there is to it.
I had the privilege to be interviewed by C.D. Jensen, talking about the ins and outs of The Arcanist and our perspective on publishing fantasy. This is also the first time I'm appearing on another channel as a guest, so an exciting day all around!
Good friend of the channel, C.D. Jensen just released his second book. Imagine Charles Darwin writing in a fantasy world—if that sounds like the coolest thing ever, you won't find a more authentic author out there.
If you'd like to learn more, check out my talks with him—or peruse his storied backlog of excellent video journals.
I've never felt so seen! This is fantastic advice on how to balance LIVING YOUR LIFE with WRITING. Even if I had the opportunity to write full-time, I don't think I would take it—I don't want to fall out of touch with reality. You also don't have to write to market. Make good writing, and your people will find it.
