More 15V in the house! If you don’t have 15V yet, now is the time. Do it!

Shoutout to ‪@FearNoSteel‬ for bird dogging these as they drop and the amazing heat treat we’re seeing on display.

Science of Sharp posted a new article on the Carbides in 15V. He looks at the 15V Manix under the SEM microscope and how the edge breaks down in use.

Go check it out!

I find the Leatherman hex bits to be too soft for daily use but they sure are a life saver at the VRBO when your 6yo decides to get off the can by putting all his weight into a TP holder.

Thank you ‪@ericasedc‬ for recommending Spyderco S45VN!

After a week and a half of carry this S45VN was starting to slow down. Stropped with 4um CBN 5passes per side and it’s just barely whittling hairs again. Very impressed.

Main takeaways compared to S30V, S35VN:
1) Better edge stability. Rolling is the main edge failure mechanism I have with these steels but this S45VN is golden at the moment. Will try at lower angles, currently 17dps.
2) Sharpens incredibly fast but also comes up crisper and cleaner than the prior iterations.
3) Edge aggression as it wears is just okay. Better than S35VN but maybe not S30V.

Huge shoutout to Sean Ryan for hooking me up with this beauty! Can’t wait to put an edge on it and put 15V through its paces.

Find Sean on Instagram at @seanmryan9 for some sweet knife content.

Getting back into cooking a bit so I upgraded my cookware. How’d I do? Would there be interest in discussions around any of these?

Too proud of the results not to share. Patched my mishap when converting one of the switches from a 3-way to a 4-way. So stoked with how it turned out! Check out the before and after photos.

Appreciate the comments on the latest video. Just wanted to clarify that I’m not going away or stopping all multitool, knife, steel, sharpening videos. They will just ebb and flow depending on my interests, mood and possibly the phase of the moon.

Thank you,
EP
