I created a new Playlist for Mirror Dash Cams that are OEM style.
This type of mirror dash cams can mount without using straps. They require removing the original mirror of the vehicle and typically combine all cables into one single cable (so there are no cables sticking up from the mirror).
One small note on combining cables into a single one. The cable eventually does have to split (for power, GPS and camera). So tucking and hiding a single larger cable and also the split connectors can be a little more work than running single discrete wires.
Same with mounting, removing the original mirror from the vehicle is an extra step vs strap mounted dash cams. While most of the time the OEM mirror can come off easily, sometimes there are covers around the mirror or cables going to it (specially on newer vehicles) that can make removal and replacement more complicated than simple straps.
Here is my video showing how mirror replacement looks https://youtu.be/_R12Vdus_A0 This video also covers mirror mounting tabs as mirror mounts are not the same in all vehicles.
Direct Mount LCD Mirrors are not for everyone but they can achieve a more factory original look than a strap mounted mirror.
And if you are looking for a direct mount capable mirror and are ok with individual cables coming from the top of the mirror (again for easier routing and hiding) then a conversion kit can be used to convert a strap mounted mirror dash cam to a direct mount mirror. Here is my video for that https://youtu.be/TtjZ7rC_ncY
Cheers!

Dash Cam Tip 102: Android Auto or CarPlay conflicting with Dash Cam App:
First remember most dash cams (likely all but I have only tested about 100 dash cams and there are new ones coming out everyday) do not need you to connect to the App to record.
Typically the App is only used for setup (in the case of dash cams without a screen) and for downloading the videos from it.
And even then sometimes it's faster to take the memory card out of the dash cam to download the videos than using the App. However if you still want to use the App here are my tips for Android Auto or CarPlay.
- Check my Dash Cam Tip 101 to ensure your phone is setup correctly for the App & Wifi Connection.
- Some vehicle's CarPlay and Android Auto want to reconnect to the phone if you disconnect from the vehicle. If you do not want to the vehicle to try to reconnect to your phone for CarPlay or Android Auto, you can change that in the vehicle connection settings. Most vehicles will let you select if you want your phone to auto connect or manually connect.
Alternatively, you can temporarily disable Android Auto or CarPlay on your phone settings, that will also stop your phone from reminding you that Android Auto or CarPlay is available.
- You cannot connect to the Dash Cam App and Android Auto or Carplay at the same time. Most phones only support one Wi-Fi connection at a time not two. So you can only connect to the Dash Cam or to Android Auto or Carplay one a time (but not at the same time).
Cheers!

Dash Cam Tip 101: Wi-Fi App connection Issues & How to Fix
The very first time your phone connects to the Dash Cam's Wi-Fi, you are prompted to select if you want the phone to stay connected to the Dash Cam's Wi-fi or if the phone should switch from the Dash Cam's Wi-Fi to another Wi-Fi (since the phone is looking for an internet connection and a dash cam's Wifi does not provide an internet connection).
I select "Stay connected". This keeps my phone connected to my Dash Cam's WIFI until I choose to disconnect from it, as opposed to my phone disconnecting me automatically.
This also helps with vehicles that have Android Auto or Carplay. The phone will want to connect to the vehicle and can disconnect you from the Dash Cam's Wi-Fi. The "Stay connected" option keeps my phone connected to the dash cam so Android Auto or Carplay doesn't bump me off.
Cheers!

If you liked the Redtiger F77 but needed more than 128GB of memory, you can now get with it with 256GB of memory for those that want to carry more video. Here is my full review for this awesome dash cam https://youtu.be/3BAIkipQYA8

What are the differences in the REDTIGER F7N dash cams?
This question comes up often, so here is my quick guide to help you:
F7N, F7NP and F7NS have the same recording features, the difference is the accessories they include.
F7N includes adhesive mount, a waterproof exterior rear camera and car charger.
F7NP includes suction cup mount, a non-waterproof interior rear camera, car charger, and 32GB SD card.
F7NS only includes front camera and a car charger. Other accessories can be purchased separately.
F7NT is not the same as the F7N or it's variants, is very different, different image sensor, has a touchscreen etc.
So which is right for you?
Easiest install is F7NP since rear camera is installed inside the vehicle and suction cup mount.
Here is my full review https://youtu.be/zIEPnJMKCjQ
F7N has smaller profile due to the adhesive mount, if you don't plan to move the dash cam this is my top choice.
Here is my full review https://youtu.be/tWanKbCxS1M
F7NS Best choice for those on a budget & that only need a front camera (can be upgraded later with rear camera).
I also placed a link to each dash cam and discount code in the video description of my review videos, Cheers!

Hi Everybody! I'm thinking of hosting a Live maybe once or twice a year where we can talk everything dash cam related, the state of the industry, new tech that is coming, and general dash cam questions.
What day and time would work best for you?
The poll will also let me see if there is enough interest to join a live. Poll closes next Friday, thank you for your input!
