At IHW Council, our work has always begun with one principle: healthcare systems must start with the patient, not the process. Continuing this commitment, IHW Council announces the Rare Diseases Action Summit 2026, to be held on 28 February 2026 in New Delhi, a national platform focused on placing people living with rare diseases at the centre of India’s public health response.

For too long, rare disease patients have navigated delayed diagnosis, fragmented pathways and uncertainty, often without clear policy follow-through or long-term care planning. This Summit marks a shift from awareness to action — bringing policymakers, clinicians, researchers, industry leaders, patient advocates, and caregivers together to design systems that respond to patient realities, not just policy intent.

We believe health equity is achieved only when patients are heard early, supported through the journey, and protected long after diagnosis. The Rare Diseases Action Summit is a step toward care models that are coordinated, compassionate and accountable to those living with rare conditions.
