I have sailed on many ships over the years and to me an ocean voyage is the ultimate way to travel.
I have a great love for the history of Ocean Liners
and their design and construction.

Cruise Ships with Opera House shadow.
It’s an interesting sight in the morning at the moment seeing the shadow of the Sydney Opera House appearing on Cruise Ships in the Morning. This only happens at this time of year when the sun is low and at a certain angle starting from about late March early April.
I really like the early Morning light with its shadows and reflected light is a great time of day.

Island Princess in the first photo was visiting Sydney on a 54 day Pacific Cruise that started in San Diego California.
Celebrity Edge was refueling for a 25 day repositioning voyage to Vancouver via Tahiti and Hawaii.

Anthem of the Seas, Celebrity Solstice, and Discovery Princess were also preparing to sail to
Vancouver which takes about 25 days to start their Alaska Cruising Season.
Carnival Splendor was on a shorter voyage out of Sydney.

Cunard Line Queen Anne visiting Sydney Harbour at the Overseas Passenger Terminal, Circular Quay on March 16 and 17
She is currently on a 116 day World Cruise for Cunard Line. She returns to Southampton
on the 30th of April. Her paintwork was in pristine condition, as she is only two years old.
This was her 2nd ever visit to Sydney and she sailed the next evening.
She sadly won’t be returning to Sydney in 2027 as she will be sailing on a 90 day voyage around South America .

She was built in the Fincantieri shipyard in Margherita, Italy.
Her Length is 323 m ( 1060 ft )
Beam 36 m ( 118 ft )
Tonnage. 113,000 GT

She was built as a Cruise Ship, when looking at the photos of the Queen Anne’s exterior design and hull shape compared to the recent photos of the
Ocean Liner Queen Mary 2 exterior design and hull shape it’s easy to see the difference between the two ships that are designed for a different purpose.

Ocean Liner Queen Mary 2 at Circular Quay.
At the Overseas Passenger Terminal she looked very impressive from every angle.
Her paintwork was in very good condition considering QM2 sailed through a North Atlantic Storm in January with huge seas and gale force winds.

She sailed from Circular Quay at 1am to move to her anchorage at Athol Bay, she was near the beautiful Athol Beach and very close to Taronga Zoo. Her passengers were taken by Tenders to the Sydney Opera House on a warm sunny Autumn day.
