I'm an Advanced Clinical Practitioner with over two decades in emergency medicine — and the mother of a premature baby who fought for his life in the NICU while I recovered from a postpartum haemorrhage in ITU at the other end of the same hospital.
That experience taught me what it feels like to be frightened and desperate for clear, honest answers.
Pregnancy is the most extraordinary biological event in human existence — and this channel exists to simplify the science behind it. Every video is built on real medical evidence, NHS guidance, and over two decades of clinical experience.
When you think that can't be real... it is.

Simplifying Pregnancy
Welcome to Simplifying Pregnancy.
I'm the person behind this channel — a woman, a mother, and an Advanced Clinical Practitioner with over two decades of experience in emergency medicine, and a Master's degree in Advanced Clinical Practice. I currently work as an ACP in a GP surgery, and I'm also a qualified independent prescriber.
But the reason this channel exists goes deeper than my qualifications.
My son was born prematurely, weighing just 2 pounds 11 and a half ounces. While he was in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at one end of the hospital, I was in ITU at the other end, recovering from a postpartum haemorrhage. We couldn't be together. We were both fighting. We both made it. He is nine years old, healthy, and the reason I get up every morning.
That experience gave me something no degree could — a firsthand understanding of what it feels like to be frightened, overwhelmed, and desperate for someone to explain what is happening to your body and your baby in a way that is clear, honest, and kind. That is exactly what this channel is for.
Throughout my career I've always learned best by simplifying complex things and making them visual. I've made pocket guides for newly qualified nurses, developed clinical documentation tools, and broken down research into something practical at the bedside. This channel is just the latest version of something I've always done — why do all that work and not share it?
Every video is built on real medical science, NHS guidance, and over two decades of clinical experience. I research every topic thoroughly — not just for you, but because this work continues to deepen my own knowledge, and I believe that matters. I will never publish something I haven't examined carefully.
You'll notice I use a male narrator's voice in my videos. I chose it deliberately — there is a particular warmth and calm to it that I felt suited the tone I wanted to create. A voice that feels steady when you might not be.
Whether you are 4 weeks pregnant and quietly terrified, or 30 weeks in and trying to understand what your body is doing, this channel exists to replace anxiety with understanding. To explain not just what is happening, but why — in plain language, with genuine care.
You deserve to understand every stage of this journey.
