The Rest of the Laurels: Epilogue, featuring "Echo" and "Prometheus on the 405" (alongside two others!), will be yours on March 6th. 🪞🪽🌫️

It's been over a year (!!!!!) since The Rest of the Laurels came out, a year of this fantastical world we've made of mythos, magic, and music--of deception and love, swords and tunics, anxiety and adventure--and the truth is I am not ready to let it go just yet. I wrote these songs over the past year, during the in-between of the Laurels era and what's to come, but I knew from the second I stepped out of the studio that these songs belonged in the Laurelverse and in this story. Epilogue is a bridge from this world to the next, a blurring of old and new.

Like the songs on Laurels, each of these songs draws inspiration from a different myth from the Greco-Roman canon (as well as from events in my own life, of course). In celebration of the Epilogue, I'll finally be releasing some more information on which myths inspired which songs in the weeks to come. Your beautiful speculation and discussion has fueled me for a year now, and I thank you for that.

Long live the laurels. Thank you for everything.

P.S. Katathon's epilogue will be available on the 6th for free on my website for anyone who wants to check in on how Asha, Myo, Silas, and Violet are doing. <3

P.P.S. there will be extra surprise goodies on the 6th too so stay tuned :') xoxoxoxoxoxo 🌹

five years ago i put out a song called “achilles heel” and to say it has changed my life is an understatement. i was a fresh grad working a 9-5 job who had this insane secret dream of being a artist and truly no idea how to make that dream happen. so I just wrote songs on my piano, mixed them (shockingly poorly) in garageband and posted them online. and then one day one of those songs (a songwriting exercise to see how many greek myth references I could write in one song) went viral and I was suddenly a chicken running around with my head cut off, googling things like “how do I upload a song to Spotify” and “explain the music business to me like I am five years old.” my sister took a picture of me brooding in some random backyard and that became the original cover art (it has since been lost to time. as it should be.) I remember counting down to the midnight release on New Year’s Eve 2020 and feeling butterflies everywhere, in disbelief seeing the number of streams pass 1,000. the next day somebody made a slowed & reverb version of it and I thought that was actually the coolest thing ever. I look back at these photos and see unbridled excitement and joy, the magic of starting a new adventure without knowing where it will take you.

I’ve grown and changed in indescribable ways since this song came out. one year ago I put out my debut album, my proudest piece of work to date, and I’ve gotten to hit some insane milestones I still can’t really wrap my head around. but the thing I’m proudest of is never losing the love of music that drove me to hunch myself over a midi keyboard until 3am, like the girl pictured in the third slide. I hope I never lose that.

thank you for being here on this ridiculous, magical, ever-changing odyssey. you guys are family to me.

happy achilles heel-aversary, my friends <3
