Many of you will have seen the news about Dashdot entering voluntary liquidation.
I want to take a moment to acknowledge Goose and Gabi for the 1800+ Australians they have helped get closer to financial freedom through property. It’s unfortunate news and our thoughts go out to the clients and employees affected.
I also wanted to share a transparent update on where Search Property stands heading into the second half of 2026.
We have reached the strongest cash position in our six-year history.
I'm sharing this openly because I believe people deserve transparency. When you trust a business with decisions that shape your financial future, you should know that business is built on solid ground. Ours is.
We got here through disciplined management of our P&L, deliberate decisions made early in the year, and a focus on doing right by clients rather than chasing growth at any cost.
The headwinds facing this industry are real:
• Three RBA rate hikes in three months
• New APRA lending caps
• Changes to negative gearing and the 50% CGT discount
• Banks adjusting serviceability calculations within days
• Consumer confidence sitting at historic lows
At the same time, this is when the value of a thoughtful, long-term approach to property investment becomes most clear.
Markets cycle.
Policy changes.
Conditions shift.
What doesn’t change is the importance of having a clear strategy, sound advice, and people genuinely committed to your outcomes in your corner.
This is exactly the kind of environment we built this business to operate in.
I founded Search Property in the same month Covid lockdowns started in Australia. Since then, we’ve had to navigate lockdowns, changes to the macro environment, rising interest rates, and increasing competition.
That experience reinforced how important it is to build for the long term.
We are invested in our clients’ futures and portfolios, and we intend to be here for the next 100+ years as a household name.
