INTIMATELY MYSTERIOUS
Many people lose faith not because God disappeared, but because God did not fit the image they had built of Him. They expected Him to act a certain way, assumed prayer would feel a certain way, wanted suffering explained quickly and obedience rewarded with immediate clarity. When God did not behave according to their concept, they concluded He was absent.
But maybe the concept was too small. Maybe the image of God they carried needed to die so that the living God could be known.
