I've just had another update from my source.

🔴 Manchester United are currently in pre-negotiations with Roma over a deal for Manu Koné. Lets be clear it doesnt mean its done or a here we go!

💰 Fee discussed : Around £45 million is possible add ons are a potential
💷 Wages: Not an issue. Koné currently earns around £85k per week, with a United salary expected to be around £150k per week, similar to Bryan Mbeumo.

⚠️ The big concern remains his injury record.

I'm told United are fully aware of it and are expected to be extremely cautious before committing to any deal.

The World cup may significantly increase the price of Kone

🇮🇹 Inter Milan are also lurking and are ready to rival any club if the opportunity presents itself, so United may not get a free run at this one.

That's not how many fans understood the reporting over the last few days. The message being taken away was that the deal was effectively happening.

Now that it's fallen apart, the narrative appears to have shifted.
