Florida Cottage Garden

Welcome to my Central Florida garden (Zone 10a), where something is always growing 🌿

I focus mainly on flowers—especially roses, zinnias, delphinium, and ranunculus, depending on the season—along with a variety of herbs. I also love growing pollinator-friendly plants that attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds šŸšŸ¦‹šŸŒø

Gardening in a hot, humid climate comes with its challenges, and I share what works (and what doesn’t!) as I grow throughout the seasons. Because we can garden year-round in Zone 10a, there’s always something happening—from seed starting and planting to harvesting and maintenance ā˜€ļøšŸ‘’

Whether you’re new to gardening or looking for tips on growing in warm climates, you’ll find inspiration and practical advice here.

Join me as I dig, grow, and learn—one season at a time šŸ’š

ā€œThe glory of gardening: hands in the dirt, head in the sun, heart with nature. To nurture a garden is to feed not just the body, but the soul.ā€ — Alfred Austin

Luna is ready to watch the game tonight!šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡øāš½ļø
Friends I have to admit that I have pretty much abandoned the garden due to the World Cup. 🫣
Thankful for all the rain we’ve been receiving because for now until July 19th the garden is on survival mode. I’m trying to do some weeding and hopefully will start some more zinnia seeds in between games. Is anyone else living and breathing only āš½ļøāš½ļø for now?

Peki, my mom’s dog, is loving the new bistro garden setup 🐾🌿 I’ve added a few more plants to keep the roses company, and everything’s starting to come together nicely.

Stay tuned for my March Garden Tour dropping next week—I’ll walk you through all the new additions to this space!

It’s about to get really cold in Orlando! 🄶 We’ll be dipping down into the 20’s with wind chills into the teens. Here are some of my blooms before the freeze. I’m not worried about the roses but I’m pretty sure I’ll lose some of my tropical plants.
Stay warm friends!

Hey everyone! šŸ‘‹šŸ¼ If you live in zones 8-10 now is the time to plant your corms and bulbs for a beautiful spring display in your garden. 🌷🪻

I just received the last bit of them and will begin the pre sprouting process soon. Would any of you be interested in a pre sprouting video?

1st bloom from Sweet Sanne dahlia. She took forever to get going but it was worth the wait. For those of us that live in Central Florida we have 2 times/year we can plant dahlias. Ideally you want to plant your tubers February and September.
