It's Asexuality Awareness Week!! You may have noticed that I use some of the colors of the asexual flag at the bottom of every video. Is it too obscure? 😆

Anyway, yes, I am asexual!

Since I am doing more on-camera videos showing my hands and stuff, you might wonder why I don't show my face. I answered in a Q&A toward the beginning of the channel's conception if I ever plan on showing my face, and the answer is no. I don't want my appearance to have any effect on viewer's enjoyment of my content. I am a voice actor, and my instrument is first and foremost my voice, so that is what will be featured innnn the majority of my videos. When I first started the channel, getting a nice background for filming was a whole other obstacle that I didn't want to deal with, either.

A lot of the ASMRtists I follow, too, are also REALLY GORGEOUS, and I'm sure that helps them in the algorithm and other people clicking on their videos, too. Do I wanna bang 'em? No, haha. But I can still acknowledge when someone is physically attractive. Maybe viewers also find them beautiful because they soothe us and make us feel great, too 😊 so their inner beauty shines through with their actions.

Anyway, because I'm asexual and somewhere on the aromantic spectrum, it makes me really uncomfortable when people start to develop feelings for me that I did not intend for them to have, so I want to mitigate that by not featuring my face on the channel. I really don't care if you think I'm hiding because I'm ugly or whatever. Also, because I am a woman, I don't want to give the opportunity for someone to offer their opinion on my appearance when I never asked for it. Growing up, I used to be a lot more sensitive to media's influence on beauty. I am a highly sensitive person, after all. I don't want to turn this channel into a source of anxiety for me, when I started it because I needed a reason to keep living.

In the beginning, I tried making it clear that I wasn't comfortable showing my face on the channel, and that any comments hinting toward developing romantic feelings for me made me uncomfortable, so thankfully there haven't been very many comments like that recently! Thank you, friends, for making this a safe space for me to create, and for others to get a little chill time 😌🍵

But again, because it is Asexuality Awareness Week, and I am doing more on-camera stuff, I just wanted to make this clear, ahaha.
