I’m very pleased to announce the publication of our original research exploring perifollicular inflammation and fibrosis in androgenetic alopecia. This is work we have worked on for many years, rooted in decades of clinical observation and the need to better understand why traditional hair loss treatments succeed in some patients and fail in others.
In this study, we demonstrate that a significant subset of patients with pattern hair loss exhibit a distinct inflammatory process surrounding the hair follicle. This immune-driven pathology contributes to follicular miniaturization, fibrosis, and resistance to conventional androgen-focused therapies. These findings challenge long-standing assumptions about androgenetic alopecia and expand how we should be thinking about diagnosis and treatment.
Our results also show that combining hormonal therapy with targeted anti-inflammatory treatment leads to improved outcomes in the majority of patients studied. This supports a more comprehensive, personalized approach to hair loss management that addresses underlying disease mechanisms rather than symptoms alone.
We hope that it will positively influence everyone as it has for our practice, from physicians and researchers to patients seeking clarity, answers, and better results. Our goal is to advance the conversation around hair loss and continue refining evidence-based strategies that improve long-term outcomes.
Thank you for watching, and for supporting scientific progress in hair restoration and dermatologic research.

From Painful Head Bumps to Healing: Two Scalp Keloid Stories | The Bumpinator
In Episode 2, two powerful stories unfold around a condition many people describe simply as painful bumps on the back of the head or razor bump scars on the neck. Medically, this is known as Acne Keloidalis Nuchae, also called scalp keloids or folliculitis keloidalis nuchae.
John arrives carrying years of difficulty from these hard bumps on the back of his head and neck. His journey begins with uncertainty and the emotional weight that chronic scalp bumps place on identity, confidence, and everyday life.
At the same time, Anwar reaches a defining moment as he sees the results of his transformation for the first time. After years of pain, ingrown-hair–type bumps, and self-consciousness about the raised keloid scars on his scalp, this reveal becomes a milestone of confidence and possibility.
In this episode, we explore:
What Acne Keloidalis Nuchae looks like when people notice “bumps on the back of the head” or “keloid bumps on the neck”
How repeated shaving, irritation, and inflammation can turn into thick scalp keloids over time
The emotional and social impact of living with visible scalp and neck bumps
How advanced treatment can help patients move from fear and hiding toward healing and hope
This episode reflects the emotional reality behind head and neck bumps that don’t go away, and the importance of compassionate, patient-centered care for conditions like AKN, scalp keloids, and folliculitis keloidalis nuchae.

I have spent years speaking through my hands, stitching silence into hope, learning the language of healing one scar at a time.
I am not a man of many words.
But tonight, I owe a few.
This journey taught me that purpose is not found in perfection, but in persistence: in showing up, even when it hurts, and in the quiet belief that every act of care ripples farther than we ever see.
You were the quiet faith beneath my work, the pulse that steadied me when I forgot why I began.
This prize is not an arrival, but a mirror reflecting every soul who gave a piece of themselves to this path.
I did it my way, not chasing greatness, but goodness.
And if the world is softer for it, that’s enough.
Thank you for every step, every story, every breath that made this journey whole.
