Mason Air Boeing 727-200 ā250 Years of Americaā
Registration: N250MA Aircraft Name: Spirit of America Delivered to Mason Air: January 1st, 2026
āø»
In early 2026, Mason Air wanted to celebrate one of the biggest milestones in American history: the 250th anniversary of the United States. Rather than painting a modern aircraft, the airline chose something specialāa classic Boeing 727-200, an aircraft that helped build American aviation during the jet age.
The airplane selected was a former passenger 727-200 that had spent decades flying around North America before being retired and stored in the Arizona desert. When Mason Air acquired the aircraft, the company decided not to modernize its appearance completely. Instead, they restored it as a tribute to the golden era of American air travel while adding a patriotic bicentennial-inspired paint scheme.
The resulting aircraft was named āSpirit of America.ā
The Livery
The design combines:
* A clean white fuselage symbolizing unity. * Red and blue sweeping stripes representing the American flag. * A large 250 logo on the tail celebrating Americaās 250th birthday. * The dates 1776ā2026 beneath the logo. * ā250 Years of Americaā titles along the fuselage.
Throughout 2026, N250MA is expected to operate:
* Independence Day flyovers. * Airshow appearances. * Historic aviation tours. * Charter flights to major American cities. * Special visits to aviation events like Oshkosh. * Humanitarian work around the world At every stop, aviation enthusiasts gathered to see one of the last passenger-configured 727s still flying in the United States.
Why a 727?
Mason Airās founder, Mason Phillips, chose the 727 because it represented a time when American-built airliners dominated airports worldwide. The aircraftās distinctive T-tail and three-engine design made it instantly recognizable and connected the celebration of Americaās history with the history of American aviation.
