Today, we celebrate an incredible milestoneโ3,000 LinkedIn followers! ๐
This achievement belongs to every optometry student, optometrist, educator, researcher, eye care professional, and supporter who has believed in the vision of OPTOBHARAT.
What started as a small initiative has grown into a thriving community dedicated to learning, collaboration, innovation, and advancing optometry across India and beyond.
๐ Thank you for your trust, encouragement, and continuous support. Every follow, like, comment, and share motivates us to create more educational opportunities, connect professionals, and strengthen the optometry community.
๐ This is just the beginning. Together, we will continue to: โจ Empower optometrists ๐ Promote lifelong learning ๐ค Build meaningful collaborations ๐ Connect the global optometry community
Thank you for being a part of our journey. Let's continue growing together and shaping a brighter future for optometry.
At OPTOBHARAT, we encourage every optometry student and young professional to choose career opportunities that strengthen their clinical knowledge, professional confidence, and long-term professional growth.
Your first job should not be chosen based only on salaryโit should help you become a better clinician.
Whenever possible, consider spending your first 1โ2 years in a hospital or a clinically focused practice. This is the ideal time to build strong clinical skills, gain confidence in patient management, improve diagnostic abilities, and develop the foundation needed for a successful career in primary eye care.
After gaining experience, don't be afraid to think beyond employment. Consider establishing your own eye clinic or partnering with fellow optometrists to build an independent primary eye care practice that serves your local community. India needs more qualified optometrists leading community-based eye care services.
Every career path has value. Hospitals, retail optical organizations, academic institutions, and private practices all contribute to eye care. However, choose opportunities that allow you to practice your clinical skills, continue learning, and grow as a healthcare professional. If your role is limited mainly to sales with little opportunity to use your clinical training, ask yourself whether it aligns with the education and professional skills you spent 4โ5 years developing.
We must respect our own profession first. When we practice with clinical excellence, professionalism, and ethical responsibility, society will increasingly recognize optometrists as essential primary eye care practitioners.
Think like other healthcare professionals. As optometrists, we are trained not only to prescribe spectacles but also to provide comprehensive primary eye care, detect ocular diseases, manage vision problems, and improve patients' quality of life.
Gain clinical skills. Build your confidence. Create your own opportunities. Serve your community.
Respect the Profession. Master the Skills. Serve the Community.
The future of optometry depends on how we choose to practice today.
What do you think is the ideal career pathway for a newly graduated optometrist? Share your thoughts respectfully in the comments.
