Recovering journalist. Veteran. Juris Doctor. I don't report the news, but I do report my opinion.
I am a veteran of both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force for a total of 10 years of service. If credentials matter, I have a BA in international relations, speak very bad Russian, and have a Master's in Business Administration. Oh, I just graduated law school at Western Michigan University where I spent every penny of my GI Bill entitlement. Debt-free J.D.!
I write on Medium and run the "Eyes Only" newsletter on Substack where I talk about global security, military technology, and how much I hate authoritarians.

Russia may be getting ready to hit Ukraine with the Oreshnik again.
Zelenskyy says Ukraine, the U.S., and Europe are seeing signs of a combined Russian strike that could include Kyiv and could involve the hypersonic-capable Oreshnik missile. Russia has already used the system before.
This is what the Kremlin does when it can’t win cleanly: threaten civilians, wave prestige weapons around, and hope fear does the work Russian military competence can’t. 🇺🇦

This photo was taken just before my time at Tinker but I recognize some familiar faces.
When I see the Sentry, I see the army of people it takes on the ground to make that jet fly a mission.
Keeping one AWACS in the air takes a maintenance footprint roughly 3x to 4x larger than a standard Air Force aircraft, usually around 60 to 80 ground personnel per jet. That’s because the E-3 is stuffed with tracking sensors, specialized wiring and waveguides, and a weird mix of analog and digital systems that never let maintainers get bored.
It takes airmen from at least 11 different Air Force specialties to keep the thing working FMC

Someone on LinkedIn told me I move too much in my videos.
How dare you sir… first of all, I was professionally trained at the Ace Ventura school of performing arts.
Second, I’m typically over caffeinated before filming.
Third, do you really want a boring talking head news anchor that looks like he’s sedated? 😆

Russia just threatened Latvia at the UN, with Moscow’s envoy warning that NATO “will not protect” the Baltic states from retaliation.
That’s rich coming from a military that has spent four years getting mauled by Ukraine and still thinks intimidation works as strategy. Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania are not soft targets; I have it on good authority that the Baltics will perforate intruders on sight.
And they are not alone. U.S. and EU diplomats publicly condemned the threat after Russia’s remarks at the Security Council.
Moscow is welcome to try its luck. History suggests the Baltics would not greet them with open arms.

These photos are a reminder of how aerospace engineers solved problems before cheap computing.
On NASA’s F-18 High Alpha Research Vehicle in the 1980s, engineers wanted to see exactly how air was flowing across the jet’s nose and forebody at extreme angles of attack. So they used a glycol-and-dye mixture released from tiny holes in the aircraft’s surface. As the glycol evaporated in flight, the dye stayed behind and traced the airflow lines across the jet like a battlefield map.

Is Stellan Skarsgard the greatest Swedish actor 🇸🇪 of all time? Good lord, this monologue from Andor 🔥🔥🔥 from 2022.
“Calm, kindness, kinship, love. I've given up all chance at inner peace. I made my mind a sunless place. I share my dreams with ghosts. I wake up every day to an equation I wrote 15 years ago for which there's only one conclusion: I'm damned for what I do. My anger, my ego, my unwillingness to yield, my eagerness to fight — they set me on a path from which there's no escape. I yearned to be a savior against injustice without contemplating the cost, and by the time I look down, there was no longer any ground beneath my feet. What is my sacrifice? I'm condemned to use the tools of my enemy to defeat them. I burn my decency for someone else's future. I burn my life to make a sunrise that I know I'll never see. Now, the ego that started this fight will never have a mirror or an audience or the light of gratitude. So what do I sacrifice?
Everything!”

There’s a lot of hype right now claiming Crimea has already been “cut off” and Russia is on the verge of losing the peninsula tomorrow.
Eh, let’s slow the hype train down. The reality is more interesting, and far more important.
Ukraine has not physically severed Crimea yet. The Kerch Bridge still functions. Russia still has its land corridor through occupied southern Ukraine.
What has changed is that Crimea no longer feels safe.
Ukrainian drones and long-range strikes are steadily turning Russian logistics into a nightmare across the land bridge that Russia seized in 2022.
Retired U.S. Army Europe commander Ben Hodges has argued for years that Ukraine didn’t need to storm Crimea directly. The strategy was to isolate it, make it militarily untenable, and take it politically or militarily later.
That’s the campaign we’re watching now.
This is a slow-motion siege conducted by FPV drones, naval drones, satellite-linked targeting, and precision strikes against logistics.
Russia can still hold Crimea today.
The question is whether it can still afford to hold Crimea tomorrow.
Слава Україні! 🇺🇦

I JUST made a video last week about 🇸🇪Sweden’s Saab Barracuda MCS camo and said they need to “shrink the tech” down to individual infantry grunts like me!
Welp, they just announced this on May 11:
Saab reveals Barracuda Poncho camouflage protection for soldiers!
I’ll reach out to Saab PR team and see if they can get me some exclusive video to make a follow up video.
