Welcome to a space for Restorative Play.
I believe doll collecting is best when we move beyond endless consumption to start doing something with the dolls we love. This channel is for the collector tired of "feeding the engine" of constant unboxings and ready to rediscover the joy of building small worlds.
Through Wardrobe Alchemy, we transform what we own—thrifted rescues, vintage treasures, and modern beauties—into meaningful, cinematic stories.
Our Creative Pillars:
- The Wardrobe (Styling): Wardrobe Alchemy as a creative mood reset.
- The Witch (Making): "Shop Your Stash" DIY—modular closets, dioramas, and restorations.
- The Dolls (Storytelling): Atmospheric vignettes proving tiny worlds hold big feelings.
In a heavy world, imagination is a survival tool. Here, play is not childish—it’s medicine and art.
Move beyond the shelf. Start creating.

The Dolls, The Witch & The Wardrobe
A new doll has entered the witchy wardrobe universe. 🖤
My Dolly Mori Mori Lolli Mystic Academy unboxing premieres soon on YouTube!
This one is a little different from my usual collection — softer, sweeter, more storybook — but the dark academia outfit, removable wig, changeable eyes, hand-painted expression, and customization potential really pulled me in.
Affiliate note: I may earn a small commission if you shop through my Dolly Mori link or use my code.

A little happy news from my doll world: I’m joining Virtual Blythe Retreat 2026 as a guest artist with Tammy and Terry. 💜
They just shared a video introducing this year’s guest artists, and I was so touched by their kind words about my channel and creative work. This retreat is always such a lovely celebration of Blythe, imagination, crafting, and community, and I’ve been proud to share it with my audience every year. Getting to be part of it this time feels really special.
This year’s theme is “Dance Like No One’s Watching,” and the retreat will take place June 5–7, 2026. If you love visual storytelling, doll creativity, set design, customizing, and making magic out of what’s already in your collection, this is such a beautiful event to explore.
Give their video a watch and keep an eye out for pass details coming in April. I’m excited to share more soon.

The Dolls, The Witch & The Wardrobe
I've been seeing posts where collectors display Black rag dolls and vintage Black dolls with caricatured features, calling them "cute" or sharing them without historical context.
Many of these dolls were created as racist caricatures. When we display them as charming collectibles without acknowledging that history, it's harmful - particularly to Black members of our community.
If you collect these items, I encourage you to:
- Research their specific origins
- Provide historical context when sharing them
- Consider whether your display honors or erases their painful history
- Listen to Black collectors and historians on this topic
I'm still learning too, but I wanted to speak up because silence feels like acceptance.
Resources:
Books:
"Racial Innocence: Performing American Childhood from Slavery to Civil Rights" by Robin Bernstein - Examines how objects like dolls functioned as "scriptive things" that taught racial lessons to children. Essential for understanding the cultural work these dolls performed.
"Mammy and Uncle Mose: Black Collectibles and American Stereotyping" by Kenneth W. Goings - Directly addresses racist collectibles and memorabilia, their production, and their meaning in American culture.
"Clinging to Mammy: The Faithful Slave in Twentieth-Century America" by Micki McElya - Explores the mammy figure specifically and how it was perpetuated through material culture.
Black Historians/Collectors to Follow:
Debbie Behan Garrett - Doll historian and collector who has written extensively about Black dolls, including "The Definitive Guide to Collecting Black Dolls." She's done important work documenting both problematic and dignified representations.
Nkechi Taifa - Collector and advocate who has spoken about reclaiming Black doll history and the importance of representation in toys.
Dr. Carolivia Herron - Author and scholar who has written about Black dolls and their psychological/cultural impact (wrote the children's book "Nappy Hair" and has discussed doll studies).
Museums/Institutions:
National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC) - Smithsonian in Washington, DC. Has collections that include dolls and toys with contextual historical interpretation.
The Jim Crow Museum of Racist Memorabilia at Ferris State University - Michigan. Specifically uses racist objects (including dolls) as teaching tools about the history of racism. Their website has excellent educational resources.

The Dolls, The Witch & The Wardrobe
I’ve been doing some deep thinking about where this channel is headed. For a long time, I felt like I was just feeding a machine of endless unboxings and 'more, more, more.'
I’m moving away from that. I want this space to be about Restorative Play—doing something meaningful with the dolls we already love.
You might notice a new look on the 'About' page. I’ve refocused our mission around three pillars:
- Wardrobe Alchemy: Styling as a creative reset.
- Shop Your Stash DIY: Making magic (and closets!) with what we already have.
- Cinematic Stories: Proving that tiny worlds can hold big feelings.
I’m so excited to share more 'making' and less 'buying' with you all in 2026.
Question for you: What is one doll in your collection that is currently calling out for a 'restoration' or a 'restyle'? Let’s start creating together. ✨"

March, this was such a fun idea — I love that we let fate do the choosing. Thank you for taking over my channel for a minute and for being the best collab partner. Now everyone go see what chaos FATE caused over on his channel! 💫✨
