Today, my uncle passed away.

He was my dad's brother.

My dad died when I was 11 years old, and in many ways, losing him changed the entire trajectory of my life. Over the years, that side of my family and I became estranged. Sometimes we'd reconnect for a while, then drift apart again. It's been complicated for a very long time.

I'm 47 now, and even after all these years, today reminds me that grief doesn't always come from the relationships we had. Sometimes it comes from the relationships we wish could have been different.

Family estrangement is a very lonely kind of loss because you're grieving not only the person who's gone, but also everything that was never healed. There are no easy answers, and sometimes there aren't even opportunities for closure.

I won't be attending the funeral, and I know I'm not the only one in my family who has made that difficult decision. That, more than anything, just makes me sad. Not angry... just sad.

I'm sharing this photo of what I would like to envision is my dad and my uncle walking together because I'd like to think they're together again, walking side by side.

Rest in peace, Uncle.

And Dad... I hope you found each other again. ❤️

**✨ Zepbound Week 1 Update! ✨**

Well...what a roller coaster this first week has been! 😅

I took my very first 2.5 mg injection last Monday (June 29th) and I honestly didn't know what to expect. I had watched all the success stories...but then I also watched all the horror stories and completely freaked myself out beforehand. 😂

The good news? I have had **almost ZERO side effects!** 🙌 No vomiting, no major nausea, no constipation, no diarrhea. I've actually tolerated it really well so far.

I have noticed a few subtle changes, though. I've been getting full faster, I've had less desire to keep eating once I'm satisfied, and I even skipped my usual late-night fast food craving after having a few drinks over the holiday weekend. That was definitely different for me!

Now for the emotional part... 😅

🎉 **I'm officially down from 242.0 lbs to 238.8 lbs!** 🎉

That's **3.2 pounds gone!** 🥳

I know that's not one of those crazy 10-pound first-week stories you see online, but you know what? I'll happily take it! Seeing the 230s again made me smile because I haven't seen that number in a very long time.

I'm trying to remind myself that this isn't a race—it's about becoming healthier, feeling more confident, and getting back to feeling like *me* again. ❤️
