“Malaïka” signifie “ange” en swahili. La chanson raconte l’histoire d’un fermier qui tombe amoureux de la fille d’un homme riche. Mais le père de la jeune fille refuse leur union car le jeune homme n'a pas assez d'argent.

Le fermier lui dit alors : “Je n’ai peut-être pas de richesses matérielles, mais j’ai beaucoup d’amour à donner. Et je t’aimerai pour le reste de ma vie.”


La jeune fille choisit l’amour plutôt que la fortune. Cette histoire illustre parfaitement la philosophie de ma mère : l’amour n’est pas une question d’argent, mais c’est une question d’engagement.

Pour finir mon album HOPE!! dédié à ma mère qui nous a quittés il y a cinq ans, j’ai voulu interpréter “Malaika”. C’était sa chanson préférée, celle qu’elle me demandait tout le temps de lui chanter. ❤️

Je suis très heureuse d’avoir pu créer cette nouvelle version avec ‪@FlorentPagnyOfficiel‬ dont j’aime profondément la voix. C’est un morceau qui me tient tellement à coeur ! Quand nous l’avons enregistré au studio, le temps s’est arrêté et j’ai ressenti la présence de ma mère à nos côtés. J’ai tout de suite dit à Florent : “Je crois que cette version lui plaît.”

On Feb 22nd, on the day of the Blizzard Of The Century, I joined forces with Queen ⁨‪@ayrastarrofficial‬ at the Power Station Recording studio in New York. But not even a hurricane 🌨️ could have prevented us from singing and dancing together! Aye Kan (Are You Coming Back?) was born!
