You ever notice how time keeps moving…
even when your heart doesn’t?
Days roll by like waves
but I’m still stranded
on the night you left.

I walk around this place
like a ghost in my own skin—
touching things you once touched,
listening for footsteps
that aren’t coming back.

People say,
“Go outside. Be happy. Move on.”
But they don’t understand
that grief has a key to every room,
and it lets itself in
whenever it wants.

I tried lighting candles
hoping the warmth might return.
But the flames only danced
with the memories of you.
Even the plants you nurtured—
they bow their heads now,
like they’re mourning with me.

I’ve held new hands.
Smiled at new faces.
But their touch feels borrowed,
and their laughter sounds distant—
like someone talking in another room
about a life I don’t recognize.

I’ve opened windows
to let the air change,
but somehow the wind
keeps carrying your name inside.
Every breeze feels like
a reminder I didn’t ask for.

And I’ve tried,
God knows I’ve tried,
to stitch myself back together
with new habits
and louder music
and brighter mornings.
But the thread keeps breaking
because it’s not strong enough
to pull me away from you.

They tell me time heals everything—
but time hasn’t met this wound.
Time hasn’t lived in a heart
that still calls your name
at 2 a.m.,
when the world is quiet
and the truth gets loud.

So here I am—
living, breathing, moving,
but still anchored
to the shape you left behind.

I’m learning to walk again
in the space
where your shadow sleeps.

And I’m realizing
maybe healing isn’t forgetting—
maybe healing is learning
how to live with the echo
instead of the voice.
