Wilderness Botswana and Children in the Wilderness (CITW) have been recognised on Virtuoso Magazine’s 2026 Impact List, an international honour celebrating organisations using travel and tourism to transform lives and protect nature.
The recognition places Botswana among just 26 organisations worldwide praised for creating meaningful impact through tourism.
For over 25 years, Children in the Wilderness has worked with thousands of children and communities across Botswana — helping inspire the next generation of conservation leaders while deepening understanding of the importance of protecting the country’s natural heritage.
Wilderness Botswana says the recognition reflects the power of investing in young people, communities and sustainable tourism to protect Botswana’s environment for future generations.
“This recognition is ultimately about the young people, communities, teachers and partners who continue to believe in the power of education and environmental stewardship to change lives,” said Community Development Projects and Stakeholder Manager Keneilwe Mathaba.

𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐀𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐁𝐨𝐤𝐨
𝐃𝐮𝐦𝐚 𝐁𝐨𝐤𝐨 has officially received Botswana’s long-awaited forensic audit report, marking what government describes as a shift from promises to action on accountability.
The audit — conducted by Alvarez and Marsal Middle East Limited — reviewed 30 entities across ministries, state-owned enterprises, and oversight bodies, focusing on risk profiling and governance gaps.
Boko says the process is 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐬, but about:
Restoring public trust
Strengthening accountability
Driving transparency in government
He stressed that the findings will 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐬, adding:
“The real work begins now.”
The President also thanked the steering committee led by Moses Pelaelo, as well as members of the public who contributed information.
The message from government is clear:
👉 A firmer stance against corruption — with action expected to follow.

𝐆𝐀𝐁𝐎𝐑𝐎𝐍𝐄 - Urban culture didn't just show up on Saturday; it took over. The Stanbic Bank Music 'N' Lifestyle Festival returned to Royal Aria on 25 April with a statement second edition that confirmed what last year's debut only hinted at: this is no ordinary or mere event. It is the defining intersection of music, fashion, food and art, as well as real economic opportunity, in Botswana today, anchored by purpose and impact.
Drawing over 2,500 attendees, the 2026 edition was deeper, bolder and more deliberate, serving as a forum to celebrate culture as well as actively build it. Under the theme "Where Urban Culture Lives," the festival delivered on two fronts simultaneously: an unmissable live experience anchored by headline performances from Ezra Neethings & KTM Choir Ensemble, Charma Gal, Sipho ‘Hotstix’ Mabuse and Oskido, and a measurable engine for Botswana's creative economy.
22 local vendors and 124 creatives, including 113 SMEs spanning food, fashion and lifestyle, were veritable embodiments of what purposeful festivals truly stand for. The event engaged over 400 personnel employed by suppliers, intricately planned across 12 months of production, logistics and creative coordination, turning a single day of celebration into a tangible economic force.
Stephanie Sandridge, Stanbic Bank Botswana Head of Brand & Marketing, was direct about the festival's intent: "This year, we were intentional about scaling impact, both in terms of the experience and in how we create access and opportunity, working to open doors for emerging creatives while continuing to celebrate established talent. The festival is an expression of our broader commitment to Botswana’s growth; investing not only in financial infrastructure but in the people, businesses and industries that define Botswana's future.”
Demonstrative of a platform that is actively growing Botswana's cultural conversation, content from the event generated over 12.6m impressions and with over 242,000 audience engagements recorded. A significant portion of those views came from audiences beyond existing followers, a testament to the power of urban culture platforms such as this, and the community support behind creative sector success.
Two editions in, the Stanbic Bank Music 'N' Lifestyle Festival has already outgrown the label of "annual event." It is becoming a cornerstone of Botswana's cultural identity, a space where creativity and commerce are not in tension, but in concert.

Stanbic Bank Botswana has launched Blue Roots, a national sustainability initiative targeting the planting of 22,500 trees across Botswana by 2028.
The programme kicks off with 5,000 trees in 2026, as part of the bank’s Kgolo strategy focused on inclusive and environmentally sustainable growth.
Launched in partnership with the Botswana University of Agriculture and Natural Resources, the initiative goes beyond tree planting — linking businesses to opportunities in agriculture, food production, and carbon-based value chains.
Stanbic says the goal is to turn sustainability into a practical economic driver, supporting:
Food security through fruit tree production
Ecosystem restoration and biodiversity
Income-generating opportunities in communities
The project builds on earlier efforts, including a 2,470-tree orchard supporting research, training, and commercial agriculture.

GABORONE - Letlole La Rona Limited (“LLR” or “the Group”) has announced its unaudited financial results for the six months ended 31 December 2025, delivering 7% revenue growth and sustained occupancy of 97%, reflecting continued stability across its property portfolio.
The Group’s property portfolio continued to deliver consistent income, supported by contractual lease escalations and sustained tenant activity. Occupancy and collection rates remained firm at 97%, reflecting stability across the portfolio despite a more challenging trading environment. Revenue growth of 7% was primarily driven by annual lease escalations, while operating profit remained broadly in line with the prior period.
Profit before tax declined to P40.6 million, primarily reflecting valuation adjustments and higher finance costs. The Group recorded a net fair value loss of P4.5 million, comprising valuation movements based on updated market inputs and adjustments related to straight-line lease accounting, which are non-cash in nature. Finance costs increased during the period in line with prevailing interest rate conditions.
The interim distribution was adjusted to 4.40 thebe per linked unit, reflecting a deliberate shift toward capital preservation and balance sheet strengthening in the current environment. The Group strengthened its liquidity position during the period, with cash balances increasing to approximately P65 million, providing flexibility as refinancing and capital management initiatives progress.
Commenting on the results, Acting Chief Executive Officer Rorisang Modikana said:
“Our deliberate focus on liquidity positions the Group to act on near-term opportunities while maintaining income stability. We have prioritised balance sheet strength, progressed refinancing initiatives, and continued advancing key developments within the portfolio. This disciplined approach ensures we are well positioned to navigate current conditions and support the next phase of growth.”
The Group continues to actively manage tenant relationships, capital structure, and portfolio positioning in response to the broader operating environment, which remains influenced by subdued performance in the diamond sector, tighter liquidity conditions in the domestic market, and rising input and operating costs across the economy.
During the period, the Group progressed leadership and governance continuity through the appointment of Ms. Rorisang Modikana as Acting Chief Executive Officer, supported by her extensive financial leadership background. Two independent non-executive directors were also appointed: a Chartered Accountant with over 20 years of experience across financial services and corporate governance, and a real estate specialist holding a PhD in the built environment. These appointments strengthen Board oversight, technical depth, and strategic capability as the Group advances its priorities.
Looking ahead, Letlole La Rona is focused on advancing key growth initiatives. Debt refinancing workstreams are progressing at subsidiary level through JTTM Properties, development activity in Selebi Phikwe continues, and the recruitment of a substantive Chief Executive Officer is underway. Together, these initiatives support the Group’s capital structure repositioning and portfolio.

𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐍 𝐇𝐎𝐑𝐌𝐔𝐙 𝐂𝐋𝐎𝐒𝐄𝐒, 𝐀𝐅𝐑𝐈𝐂𝐀 𝐏𝐀𝐘𝐒 𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐒𝐓
The supply chain doesn’t break in one place—it ripples. The brutal reality is that Africa is a price taker. Most African economies are net importers of fuel and fertiliser and are highly exposed to global shipping routes which means there is very little control, only response.
The difference between businesses that weather this disruption and those that don't will not be found in strategy decks. it will be found in the decisions made over the next two to four weeks. Lock in supply now, even at uncomfortable prices, because in volatile markets availability will always beat price.
Selectively build buffer stock across fuel, critical imported inputs, and high-margin SKUs. Working capital will sting, but stockouts will cost more. If your suppliers are still assuming normal transit routes, you are already behind; reroute early, explore alternative ports, different origin countries, and split shipments before the options narrow.
Reset contractual expectations with both customers and suppliers without delay, because what was considered late last month is fast becoming the new normal. Run at least three disruption scenarios — two weeks, six weeks, three months — and tie each directly to pricing, inventory policy, and customer communications. Finally, watch fertiliser and food input prices closely: even if your business sits outside agriculture, your customers do not, and the ripple effects on patterns are coming regardless. The window to act is open. It will not stay that way.
This is not a distant war — it is a supply chain event with immediate commercial consequences. Should the Strait of Hormuz remain unstable for another month, Africa will not simply absorb higher prices; it will contend with slower trade, tighter margins, and rising food insecurity. The uncomfortable truth is that the businesses which act early will appear paranoid today — and exceptionally well-positioned in thirty days.
