Martijn Doolaard is a photographer, filmmaker and travel writer from the Netherlands. He finished two long distance bicycle journeys from Amsterdam to Singapore and Vancouver to Patagonia. Currently he is renovating and living in a remote stone cabin in the Italian Alps.

Hello dear friends, here a little update. Temperatures have been staying low and accessibility to the house still impossible for the car and the trailer. So I haven’t been able to continue the work. I actually had bought a second hand snow thrower to start clearing the road, but halfway the mountain, after about an hour it broke down. The left track stopped functioning, so had to bring it away for repairs. We’re not giving up. We’ll be back with you next Sunday. Greetings also from Ela.

Dear Friends, there will be no video today. The cold weather has obstructed the work a bit. The scaffolding is icy and the temperatures too low to work with mortar and wood varnish, so we have been taking it a bit slower. See you all next week with an extra long video! Have a good Sunday everyone.

Looking for a fixed curb skylight (60x60cm) to be placed diagonally, to be able to fit with the roof stones. The flashing should be in 1 piece all around. Not very common here in Italy, maybe elsewhere in Europe? thanks.
