The UK government has officially announced a brand-new "midnight curfew" for 16 and 17 year olds on social media, expanding on its plans for a full under 16 ban.
Here is what you need to know about the new rules:
🔷 ️The Midnight Curfew: By default, 16 and 17 year-olds will have their social media access blocked between midnight and 6:00 AM. (Note: It’s voluntary, meaning teenagers can toggle it off in their settings).
🔷 ️No More Infinite Scrolling: Highly addictive features like infinite feeds and auto playing videos will also be switched off by default for older teens.
🔷️ AI Chatbot Breaks: Under-18s will face forced regular breaks when using AI chatbots to encourage healthier habits.
The government says these steps are crucial to prevent a "cliff-edge" when kids turn 16, aiming to tackle sleep deprivation and mental health issues. Critics, however, are already questioning if a "voluntary" curfew will actually work if teens can just turn it off with two clicks.
💬 What do you think? Will this actually help teens sleep better, or is it too easy to bypass? Let us know in the comments! 👇

⚽️ POLITICS MEETS FOOTBALL: The Falklands dispute is back in the headlines just days before England takes on Argentina in the World Cup semi-final.
Downing Street has firmly hit back after Argentina’s Foreign Minister, Pablo Quirno, called the islanders an "artificially implanted" population and questioned their right to self determination.
Keir Starmer's spokesperson delivered a clear message to Buenos Aires:
"The Falkland Islanders are British with the right to determine their own future."
While Number 10 is keeping its stance firm, they've also urged everyone to focus on the pitch, adding that football should ultimately be "about bringing people together."
With memories of 1982 and the legendary World Cup clashes of the past, Wednesday’s semi-final in Atlanta is going to be absolutely massive.
What’s your score prediction for Wednesday night? 🏴 🆚 🇦🇷

Nigel Farage declined a taxpayer-funded security offer because he felt it wasn't adequate for the level of threat he faces.
🛡️ The Offer: Following a police threat assessment, Farage was offered a state funded security package including a bodyguard, a car, and a trained driver.
⚖️ The Standard: The package was at the exact same standard provided to Cabinet Ministers and Kemi Badenoch.
❌ The Rejection: Farage turned it down, with Reform UK calling it a "downgraded and inadequate package" for "the most targeted politician in Britain."
Do you think high profile politicians should be allowed to negotiate their state-funded security packages, or is the standard offer fair? Let us know in the comments! 👇

🚨 Is Keir Starmer delaying his resignation for the World Cup? ⚽️✈️
You might have seen the wild rumor going around that Prime Minister Keir Starmer is holding off his official resignation just so he can jet to New Jersey (New York) for the 2026 World Cup Final if England beats Argentina this Wednesday!
Here is the actual truth behind the viral theory:
The Pitch: England is facing Argentina in a massive semi-final clash this Wednesday, July 15.
🔷 ️The "Plan": If the Three Lions win, Starmer reportedly hopes to attend the final at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, July 19.
🔷 ️The Delay: Under this highly specific (and optimistic!) plan, he would then fly straight back to London to formally resign to King Charles on Monday morning, July 20 passing the keys of No. 10 to Andy Burnham.
Is it a beautifully choreographed political exit, or is the outgoing PM just letting football fever get the best of him? 🏴🏆

🚨 POLICE UNDER FIRE: Did they break the "Golden Rule" in the Ann Widdecombe investigation? 🚨
Devon and Cornwall Police are facing severe backlash from government officials and counter-terrorism experts.
The issue? They explicitly told the public over the weekend that there was "nothing to suggest" the murder of former MP and Reform UK spokeswoman Ann Widdecombe was politically motivated or linked to terror.
The Shocking U-Turn 🔄
Just days later, Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE) took over the entire case, revealing "new information" and officially rearresting the 28-year-old suspect on terror charges.
Breaking the "Golden Rule" 🛑
The Government’s terrorism laws adviser, Jonathan Hall KC, noted that the force "broke the golden rule of investigations" by rushing to rule out a motive. In a high-profile case involving a public figure, standard protocol dictates police must maintain an absolute open mind.
A Government source added:
"They were giving honest answers to honest questions, which were accurate at the time, but they should not have gone beyond the ‘keeping an open mind’ position in terms of motive until the full picture was known."
Police are supposed to protect the integrity of a live investigation, but by prematurely shutting down the possibility of a political hit, critics say they overstepped and misjudged the situation.
👇 What do you think? Did the police rush to judgment too quickly to calm public panic, or was it just a fast-moving situation? Let’s talk in the comments.

🚨 Is Labour U-turning on its controversial immigration reforms?
Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood is reportedly considering a major compromise on her 10-year wait rule for "Boriswave" migrants and it all comes down to a battle over state benefits.
With Andy Burnham preparing to take the reins post Starmer, pressure from Labour MPs has hit a boiling point. The retrospective crackdown on post-Brexit migrants is sparking a massive internal party revolt.
What’s the new compromise being floated?
🔷 ️The Good News for Migrants: The government may scrap the proposed 10 to 15 year wait, allowing workers to keep their original 5 year route to Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR).
🔷 ️The Catch: To ease fiscal pressure and appease the Treasury, they plan to slap a lengthy delay on welfare access. As an internal source puts it: "You allow them to get ILR after five years but you don’t allow them to claim benefits until three or four years later."
It’s a high stakes balancing act projecting fairness for legal workers while locking down the welfare state to protect public finances.
👇 What do you think? Is withholding benefits for longer a fair compromise, or is it just shifting the goalposts? Let us know in the comments!

⚽️ FOOTBALL RIVALRY MEETS DIPLOMACY: Is the hype real? 🇦🇷 🏴
Argentina has demanded new talks over the Falkland Islands (Las Malvinas) just days before their massive World Cup semi-final showdown against England this Wednesday in Atlanta.
But there is a twist the timing isn't just a pre match stunt. The sudden tension is actually fueled by a major geopolitical rift between the US and the UK. After the UK declined to back recent US military action in Iran, an internal Pentagon memo leaked suggesting the US might "punish" allies by withdrawing support for British imperial claims, specifically naming the Falklands.
Sensing a massive shift in US backing, Argentina’s Foreign Minister immediately called for new bilateral negotiations. The UK, meanwhile, has doubled down, stating sovereignty is non negotiable.
Now, this diplomatic firestorm lands right on top of one of football’s most historically charged, emotional rivalries (think Maradona’s "Hand of God" in 1986, just four years after the Falklands War).
Wednesday night was already going to be electric, but the narrative just got a whole lot more intense. Who do you have making the Final? Let us know in the comments! 👇
