Shebeshxt's Bail Postponed to 12 June as Judge Flags AI-Generated Papers
Musician Lehlogonolo "Shebeshxt" Chauke must wait until 12 June 2026 to learn if he will be granted bail, after a High Court judge raised concerns about alleged AI use in his defence papers.
The 31-year-old appeared before the Polokwane High Court today, Wednesday in his latest bid for freedom. His attorney, Michael Khumalo, is appealing a magistrate's decision from 30 April that denied bail, arguing the magistrate was biased.
But the judge postponed the matter after flagging that some submissions in the defence's papers appeared unverified or potentially AI-generated.
Shebeshxt faces 20 charges, including attempted murder, robbery, and illegal firearm possession. The state has opposed bail throughout the proceedings.
The case will resume on 12 June.

Court Drama in Mahungela Trial: Accused Claims Ear Problems Mid-Cross-Examination
The high-profile murder trial of Bafana Mahungela took an unexpected dramatic turn today, Wednesday when the accused complained of hearing problems in the middle of intense cross-examination, prompting the prosecutor to label the move as deliberate "gamesmanship."
Mahungela, 23, is standing trial for the 2023 murder of Johannesburg teacher Kirsten Kluyts. The 34-year-old Delta Park High School educator, who was 14 weeks pregnant at the time, was found dead in bushes near George Lea Park in Parkmore after disappearing during a park run. Her body had been hidden down an embankment, and her clothes were removed .
The trial, which has been plagued by numerous delays over nearly three years, finally began hearing evidence. However, proceedings were disrupted when Mahungela informed the court that he was struggling to hear the prosecutor's questions.
State Prosecutor Siyabonga Futshana did not hide his frustration, accusing the accused of employing delaying tactics. According to sources in the courtroom, Futshana told the judge he believed the sudden complaint was "gamesmanship" intended to interrupt the flow of the State's questioning.
"The State has been ready to proceed for some time, and we have warned previously about delays," Futshana has argued in recent court sessions, referencing prior warnings that further stalling would not be tolerated .
In response to the dispute, presiding Judge Ian Cox ordered a medical examination to determine the veracity of Mahungela's claims. The court will await the results before deciding how to proceed with the cross-examination.

Williams fires warning shot! Sundowns vow to return for everything in the PSL
Mamelodi Sundowns captain Ronwen Williams has fired a chilling warning to their Betway Premiership rivals, insisting that Masandawana will return with a point to prove next season.
For the first time in nine years, Sundowns were dethroned as league champions after Orlando Pirates snatched the title on the final day of the season. While the Brazilians later celebrated their historic second CAF Champions League crown, the pain of losing the league title still left a mark.
Williams admitted it was difficult watching Pirates lift the trophy while Sundowns were preparing for their own continental showdown in Morocco.
"Obviously we were disappointed, but we accepted it and shifted our focus quickly because we knew we had a huge task ahead of us," said Williams.
The Bafana Bafana captain praised his teammates, calling them "mentality monsters" for the way they buried their disappointment and turned their attention to conquering Africa.
But it was his final message that will grab the attention of rivals.
Williams vowed that Sundowns will come back stronger, hungrier and more ruthless next season.
He even joked that they could do the unthinkable by winning all 30 league matches and breaking the 90-point mark.
Whether it was a promise or a warning, the rest of the league has officially been put on notice.

Ouaddou changes tune on exhaustion, plots Africa conquest
Orlando Pirates mastermind Abdeslam Ouaddou has already fired a massive warning shot across the African continent, declaring that the CAF Champions League is his ultimate target for next season.
Speaking to Thomas Mlambo on SuperSport Extra Time, the Moroccan tactician did not mince his words regarding the club's trajectory after conquering local football.
"Next season the plan is to go and win the Champions League," he boldly stated, setting the bar sky-high for the Buccaneers.
However, behind the grand continental ambition lies a heavily fatigued manager.
Ouaddou candidly indicated that he was completely drained following the cut-throat, high-stakes climax of the domestic campaign. Pirates historically secured the Betway Premiership title on Saturday, completing an extraordinary domestic Treble, but the gruelling marathon has clearly taken its toll on the coach.
Having broken the club's agonising 14-year league title drought while simultaneously managing a packed fixture calendar, Ouaddou admitted the mental and physical toll has been immense.
Despite his self-confessed exhaustion and immediate need for a break, he seems to have backtracked on his wish for a break. The lure of Champions League football has got him excited yet again and he will look to be the hero once more by claiming the biggest title in continental club football.
The crown remains the holy grail for the Ghost faithful, who haven't tasted continental glory since 1995. Armed with a record-breaking defence led by goalkeeper Sipho Chaine, Ouaddou knows the foundations are there.
Once the fatigue clears, will the exhausted mastermind dust himself off to spearhead Pirates' ruthless charge for a second star?

Cardoso's Chloorkop U-Turn! Thlopie gives update on what fans want
Miguel Cardoso has gone from being a man under heavy pressure to becoming one of the most loved figures at Mamelodi Sundowns, with chairman Tlhopie Motsepe now confirming that important contract talks are on the horizon.
Masandawana returned home to a hero's welcome at OR Tambo International Airport after securing their second CAF Champions League title with a hard-fought 2-1 aggregate victory over Moroccan giants AS FAR.
But amid the celebrations, one topic quickly stole the spotlight, Cardoso's future.
Earlier this season, the Portuguese coach found himself fighting for survival. Frustrated supporters had called for his dismissal after Sundowns stumbled in the early stages of the campaign, while chants for former coach Pitso Mosimane echoed around the club.
Things appeared to worsen when Cardoso failed to retain the Betway Premiership title, becoming the first Sundowns coach in eight years to miss out on league glory.
However, while the domestic crown slipped away, Cardoso delivered what many considered the ultimate prize, a second CAF Champions League star.
And now the supporters who once wanted him out are singing a very different tune.
Motsepe revealed that while interacting with supporters before the team landed, there was one clear message from the Yellow Nation.
"It's funny that the previous question was 'does the coach think that the Sundowns fans have finally been won over'.
"I came 40 minutes before the team arrived, and I spent some time with the supporters," said Motsepe.
"And I think, barring them asking about when the team is arriving, can we see the champions, can we see the trophy? Almost all of them asked, 'Where's the coach?' And some of them even instructed 'the coach must stay'."
With Cardoso having achieved the club's main objective, Motsepe admitted discussions over his future will begin from a far more positive position than before.
From pressure to praise, Cardoso's remarkable turnaround story at Chloorkop is complete and it seems Sundowns supporters want the journey to continue.

Home Affairs Committee Warns Against Abusing Courts for Asylum Claims
The Portfolio Committee on Home Affairs has raised alarm over the growing number of asylum seekers and refugees taking the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) to court, warning that the abuse of judicial processes undermines the asylum system.
Following a meeting with the DHA and the Refugee Appeals Authority of South Africa (RAASA), Committee Chairperson Mosa Chabane said litigation is increasingly being exploited to prolong unlawful stays in the country. RAASA received 2,733 judicial review applications during the reporting period.
While acknowledging the constitutional right to judicial review, the committee urged the DHA to work with the justice department and judiciary to establish specialised courts for asylum-related appeals, possibly presided over by retired judges.
The committee also flagged weaknesses in DHA’s systems, including:
· Double applications lodged through both immigration and asylum channels
· No effective track-and-trace mechanism when applications are withdrawn or applicants fail to appear
· Severe under-resourcing of the DHA Inspectorate Unit
The committee called for integrated systems to detect duplicate applications, better resourcing for enforcement, and the urgent finalisation of the White Paper on Citizenship, Immigration and Refugee Protection.
While acknowledging RAASA’s progress in reducing backlogs, the committee plans an additional engagement for a more comprehensive review of the system.

Bucs Camp: Pirates' highly anticipated show set to reveal behind-the-scenes action
Orlando Pirates supporters are already counting down the days after promotional snippets of the club's popular Bucs Camp series sent social media into a frenzy.
The behind-the-scenes show has become a fan favourite since it was introduced three years ago, giving supporters a closer look into life inside the Buccaneers camp, from training sessions and team activities to moments rarely seen by the public.
This season's edition is expected to attract even more attention after Pirates enjoyed one of their most memorable campaigns in recent history.
The Soweto giants dominated domestic football under coach Abdeslam Ouaddou, completing a remarkable treble by lifting the MTN8, Carling Knockout and Betway Premiership titles. The league crown was especially significant as it ended the club's painful 14-year wait.
Pirates also took full advantage while rivals Mamelodi Sundowns shifted much of their focus towards the CAF Champions League, where Masandawana eventually captured their long-awaited second continental title.
Now supporters are eager to get an inside look at what really happened during the successful season.
Bucs Camp is set to start airing on Sunday, June 7, on SuperSport 202 and Orlando Pirates' official YouTube channel.
One teaser clip already has supporters talking. In the footage, Ouaddou appears visibly frustrated as he attempts to confront a player.
"We're not here for jokes..." the coach is heard saying before calling out the player.
Moments later, players including captain Nkosinathi Sibisi intervene and stop him from approaching the individual.
The incident immediately sparked speculation online, with many supporters convinced the player involved could be Sipho Mbule.
Whether the mystery will finally be solved remains to be seen, but one thing is certain, Bucs Camp is already creating plenty of buzz before its first episode has even aired.
