I get asked often what my workflow and song writing process looks like. I’ll be the first to admit it’s not an elegant process. Most the time it looks like this:
4000 subs!!?? How?? Man I still remember being stoked we got to 100! Y’all are the best and I love that I get to share my passion for music, synths, and gear with awesome like minded folks! Is a rad to have a positive community (and that one hater) in my dark little corner of the internet. Thank you all! ❤️❤️❤️

My impression with the majority of genAI, is that the people most enthusiastic about it discount process in favor of outcomes. But process is where most of the interesting stuff happens.
I was recently contacted by an AI Music Creation company about doing a sponsored video…
At first, I just ignored the email.
But then they sent another.
And another.
I politely mentioned that using AI to create music is basically the opposite of what I do (hell, I barely use a computer) and it was probably not a good fit.
They said their AI tools were “creator focused” to help speed up the process of making music.
This is where they are lost. The process IS the art. It’s not a product I’m trying to rush to market.
Art is the process. Not the product.
The making, the learning, the struggling, the figuring it out, the working within my limitations and my personal experience as a human being to bring something inside of me to fruition - that’s the art. That’s the part that is for me.
The song?
That’s just a by-product.
An afterthought.
It’s what happens when the song leaves me and moves to you.
That’s what these AI companies don’t understand. Why would I want to rush that process?
It’s a (bad) solution to problems that don’t exist.
