Folks, I have to get this off my chest ...
Many of the comments on the Silvia Galva/Adam Crespo case have crossed a line. There is a major difference between analyzing behavior, discussing evidence, or talking about what people could have done differently, and outright victim blaming or celebrating violence.
Comments like “she asked for it” or “she had it coming” are completely unacceptable here. That is not what this channel stands for, and it is not why I make content.
The Crime Atlas is about examining cases critically, thoughtfully, and honestly, not to dehumanize victims or encourage cruelty. I have already removed multiple people from commenting and will continue doing so where necessary.
To everyone engaging respectfully, even when disagreeing: thank you. That is the kind of discussion this channel aspires to foster. You can critique actions without stripping someone of their humanity.
Also, if you come across an especially egregious comment that violates this spirit, please report it to me directly so I can review it. As always, thank you so, so much for your support and cooperation.
Best, James

Today we're remembering the men and women who gave their lives serving our country. Wishing you all a safe and meaningful Memorial Day. 🇺🇸
In other news, our latest case is up [LINK: https://youtu.be/ajGK30JWmXk].
We're diving into the death of Dr. Silvia Dugas and the controversial case against Adam Crespo.
A late-night argument. A mounted spear. A tense interrogation. And a story that still has some people questioning what actually happened inside that Hallandale Beach condo.
As always, thank you all!

You’re stranded on an island, but somehow the Wi-Fi is excellent. Rescue won’t arrive for three hours, so obviously you spend the time watching a true crime documentary.
Which subgenre are you choosing?

Hello all, it’s Tuesday, and of course that means it’s time for our weekly poll. This time, we are looking at serial killer stats.
Based on FBI data, and analysis from the Radford/FGCU Serial Killer Database, which U.S. State has the highest number of convicted serial killers [total count, NOT by capita]?
Answer will be pinned in the comments section as soon as we reach 1,000 votes.
NOTE: This poll is based on the post-2005 FBI threshold of two or more victims, in separate events, with a cooling-off period between offenses. [Former threshold was 3+ victims]

Hello all, it’s Tuesday, which means it’s time for our weekly poll. This week we’re looking at the classics.
Which horror or suspense scene gave you the biggest chills?
There are too many great ones to include them all, so if your favorite isn’t here, drop it in the comments. Curious to see what still creeps people out.

In case you missed it, a Colorado appellate court just overturned Leticia Stauch's murder conviction for the January 2020 killing of her stepson, Gannon Stauch.
This isn't a case we've covered on this channel, but it's well known in the true crime world.
The appeals court ruled that she deserves a new trial because, essentially, one of the jurors had a son-in-law who worked as a deputy district attorney in the same office as the prosecutor who tried the case. That's the kind of conflict that can raise serious questions about a fair trial, and the court agreed.
Leticia remains at the Denver Women's Correctional Facility while the legal process moves forward.

CASE UPDATE: ARIANNA GAJRAJ
LINK: https://youtu.be/rQE_yuh4waU
Folks, I’ve read a lot of sentencing transcripts, but this one genuinely surprised me.
Arianna Gajraj, the woman who partnered with her ex to lure her own friend into a deadly trap, just got sentenced on March 9. Her number? 36 months in jail/72 probation.
Three years. That is the price tag for setting the stage for murder. After credit for time already served, she has less than a year and a half remaining on her sentence.
Her boyfriend, Brandon Pirela, was found guilty by a jury in January and is currently awaiting his own sentencing, scheduled for April 7. He was found guilty of ATTEMPTED FIRST DEGREE MURDER WITH A FIREARM-POSS/DISCHRG and CONSPIRACY TO COMMIT FIRST DEGREE MURDER.
He faces a possible maximum sentence of Life in prison, with guaranteed decades behind bars before he ever sees a parole board.
