Hey folks! As we occasionally do, we are keeping this week's poll on the lighter side. We deal in heavy topics all week, so this is a way to keep our sanity.
You have been asked to name your Mount Rushmore of crime-series supporting characters. In your opinion, which of the roles below is an automatic first-ballot lock?

Hello all, hope everyone is healthy and doing well. It's time for our weekly poll and this week we are looking at sentencing in criminal cases.
When the judge drops the hammer at the end of a trial, the public reaction is rarely unanimous. Some look at a sentence and see justice; others see a system missing the mark entirely. It makes you wonder what the system is actually trying to accomplish when the court adjourns.
Obviously, each applies to some degree, but in your opinion, what should be the primary purpose of sentencing in criminal cases? Do you think our current system leans too hard in one direction, or is it failing to balance all four?

If you’re checking the feed for today’s drop, hold that thought.
We’re shifting the schedule.
To make sure every piece of evidence is dialed in and the final cut is exactly where it needs to be, I’m moving our weekly upload to the weekend. From here on out, new videos will drop on Saturdays at 11:00 AM.
Taking a couple of extra days guarantees a sharper, heavier deep dive when the weekend hits.
See you Saturday.

Folks, I have to get this off my chest ...
Many of the comments on the Silvia Galva/Adam Crespo case have crossed a line. There is a major difference between analyzing behavior, discussing evidence, or talking about what people could have done differently, and outright victim blaming or celebrating violence.
Comments like “she asked for it” or “she had it coming” are completely unacceptable here. That is not what this channel stands for, and it is not why I make content.
The Crime Atlas is about examining cases critically, thoughtfully, and honestly, not to dehumanize victims or encourage cruelty. I have already removed multiple people from commenting and will continue doing so where necessary.
To everyone engaging respectfully, even when disagreeing: thank you. That is the kind of discussion this channel aspires to foster. You can critique actions without stripping someone of their humanity.
Also, if you come across an especially egregious comment that violates this spirit, please report it to me directly so I can review it. As always, thank you so, so much for your support and cooperation.
Best, James

In other news, our latest case is up [LINK: https://youtu.be/ajGK30JWmXk].
We're diving into the death of Dr. Silvia Dugas and the controversial case against Adam Crespo.
A late-night argument. A mounted spear. A tense interrogation. And a story that still has some people questioning what actually happened inside that Hallandale Beach condo.
As always, thank you all!

You’re stranded on an island, but somehow the Wi-Fi is excellent. Rescue won’t arrive for three hours, so obviously you spend the time watching a true crime documentary.
Which subgenre are you choosing?
