Mountain Shadows Equine Revival is an equine rescue creating a better future for horses through care, training, and education. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit powered entirely by volunteers and donors, we not only take in and provide care for at-risk horses, but we also educate our volunteers and our supporters and train our horses from untouchable to rideable. That way, we can adopt the horses into loving homes and break the kill-auction and feedlot cycle.
Our motto is Rescue. Revitalize. Retrain. Re-home.

She’s had a few extra visits with our farrier lately, one because she threw the shoe that was put on a few weeks ago (horses, right? 🤣) - but also to make some small adjustments to the shape of the shoe for more adequate support. After these most recent visit, she’s right as rain! Hoping to get some good videos today at shift ✨

Oh, Stella!
We are happy to share that Stella has been adopted to a wonderful home in Colorado. The place she gets to call home is a fellow nonprofit farm dedicated to connecting people with agriculture, nature, and livestock to improve mental and physical health. Their equine assisted programs camps, youth programs, trail riding + outdoor education, horsemanship and companionship-based learning!
It’s bittersweet, and we will miss this spunky girl so much, but we cannot wait to see all of the cool things she’ll get up to.

✨Milestone alert: The Boys Have Moved In! 🏡✨
We have some exciting news (mostly to us, lol)
If you’ve been following along, you know that re-teaching Little Boy and Sundance to accept the halter has been, let’s say, a “masterclass in patience.” 😅 - both geldings at one point in time had these skills, but then spent about 10+ years on pasture with very little handling.
There have been moments where we wondered if this moment would come. And, here we are!
Both Little Boy and Sundance have settled into their stalls pretty well, and each hopefully will begin to make friends with their new neighbors!
